Arrow 8 x MTron Pro 7000 Raid: only 500MB/S with Areca 1680ix and Areca 1231ML? + BIG Bench

    Hi There,

    Iam about to get cracy...

I have 8 MTRON-MSP7025-16GB SSDs and cant get anything like fullspeed or what other people get...

First I tryd with Adaptec Series 5 Controller... due is was overheating (107 Degree celcius) and performed bad on SDDs I ordered

    Areca ARC 1680ix-12

    and

    Areca ARC 1231ML

I setup an Raid0 with all 8 SSDs.... the 1680ix underperform, with Firmware 1.44 AND 1.45, I tryd all, but that was expected by me, due i read it here in the forum

    BUT

the 1231ML ALSO dont get the max speed out?

Tryd ARC 1231ML 256MB Firmware 1.43 and 1.44(which is the newest one for him)

What i get is someting like 500-600 MB/S in Raid 0 Setup

File copy with h2testw is 361MB/S write 372MB/S read.

What can I do or what did I wrong?

Is there anything special to config for the 1231ML to get fullspeed with the SSDs like the other poeple here around?

Btw: for depper details here is my Test sheet,
(its a BIG Benchmark, spending +30 hours now)

    testing the

    Areca 1680ix, 1231ML with 1-8 SSDs
    Raid0
    Raid5
    different Stripesize
    different Firmwares

    CrystalDiskMark
    Truecrypt
    h2testw
IO Meter with Pattern database, workstation, fileserver,
    HD Tune Pro

I believe then that you are using your Vga on 16x slot and the Areca on the x4 ,so you are getting some limitation because Areca is a 8x card and you are using it on a 4x slot( the orange slot). I have 1231ml on x8 slot and i am getting burst speed near 1000+

put my controller into the first Slot. Voila: Full Power ;P

ok, I will search over the weekend for an other Motherboard (should have still DDR2 Ram and lots of space for cards )

then i will take new benches.

But what i can say now: Arc 1680-ix is way slower with SSDs like the older Arc 1231ML....

my original Nickname is drmaniac, dont google for it, the results will be endless

the XS Forum antispam register boot or something dont let me register with my original nickname, dont know why...one hour after registration there was allways a mail, account deleted without any reasons...

lol but ok, i can live with ssd-freak to

for the x4 / x8 : i know that x4 is theoretical 1000mb, but the controller is not without any reason a x8 controller

My burst values are now from ~700 to ~1200 and the average values for reading/writing data are +25%, thats a lot.
