For stability you may leave TB disabled, relax level 0 or 1.

What are the best BIOS for a Q6600 where stability is most important, and overclocking is currently not a priority?

Hello guys and gals. Getting this board soon, wanna know what ram runs well with this if i plan to run 4gbs and overclock an E8400. All on 64bit Premium Vista. And any suggestions for an air aftermarket cooler which is really effective and fits well on this board? In case you hadnt guessed, I'm a total noob to pc setups and would really appreciate good advice for the components to add to this board, thanks.

    However I cannot run 500 x 8.

Is there any other setting I need to change in BIOS? I want to be able to get the max OC I can and still run my memory at/near DDR2-1066 The only settings that I have changed is:
    CPU: 9
    FSB: 445
    CPU Voltage: 1.3
    RAM Voltage: 2.2V

Every other setting is set to 'Auto' Im still new to Intel OC'in so bear with me. I did disable the C1e support.

I also know for a fact that my Corsair XMS2 will do DDR1066.

    Thanks all
    man, u need to set vpll to 1.6V (real 1.66V), VNB to 1.4V (1.45V) or 1.55V, VSB 1.05V (1.07V), VFSB 1.2V (1.22V) (if 45nm otherwise set it to 1.3v).

or it wont last much w/ 1,86V Vpll, 1.57V VNB and 1.45v vfsb....

Mine Vpll is on AUTO. So, I guess I'm burning it with 1.86V.
VNB is on 1.4V or 1.45V (don't remember now, it is one value below 1.55V) and VFSB is on 1.4V.

Well, it seems it's working with 1.6V for PLL.
    Gonna test it more...

    You can use the latest.
BTW, I think I need 1.7V for PLL.

I installed this mobo in my case (Coolermaster cm690) late last year and forgot to attach the rear IO panel. I'm reorganizing my cabling/layout so I've decided to attach it now but it doesn't seem to be that easy as there are no screw holes.

Does anyone have a pic of their attached panel and/or a simple explanation for how this is attached to a case and motherboard?

    Thank you

You mean IO shield? Just put it in case. It fits without screws.

Thank you, Cwelle. So given that this doesn't need screws, I have the following questions:

-Does this snap into the case or is it held against the case by the motherboard?
-Am I supposed to bend back all the silver tabs that seem to surround each opening on the shield?

    It snaps into the case.
Don't bend silver tabs. They should touch connector's casing. Just make sure that they don't go into connector (LAN, USB ...).

    Hello folks...

Im been happyly, living with my Board....until i read this, from another member:

    http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=951

Is this true? Can i "Kill" a 45nn processor? Is Asus giving more, that the real voltage?

Im especial concern with the PLL voltage....

    Any considerations?

Anyone having problems with the last two bios'? When I install either of them I can't boot the pc when I have any usb devices plugged into the back of the mobo. I unplug them and its fine.
It was getting stuck at the Initializing USB Devices bit at first then I tried to reflash a couple more times as thats what I had to do to get 0906 to work for my E8400.

    Cheers

Great! So I'm not the only one then. 0906 seem s to not let me overclock very well and had read others doing much better with the later bios versions.

Edit : I have just been scouring the AsuX forums, plenty of comrades with the excact same problem. The only way I can use my existing setup with the latter bios' is to have my keyboard(G15-blue lights), which is the culprit, hooked up to a front USB port.

Edit two : I had my G15, along with my mouse attached to my 2407's usb hubs. I found it to boot as per my first edit, but then I thought to connect it direct to the rear usb on the mobo and well it boots.

Can someone confirm, or not, that puting the PLL, with the first value, in Bios, in fact, is much higher?

I have all values, except Vcore and Ram voltage, at the minimum possible....

    Or isn`t it?

Next problem is the cold boot issues I have with this new bios. Even at only 3420mhz, Orthos stable for ever and a day if I turn the pc off and then restart it she won't boot. It just hangs with nothing on the screen. I have to hit the reset a few times then I will boot saying my overclocking has fail hit F1 bla bla bla.
I must be missing something for it to cause this but what?
