Well I got it built.
The install and everything went great, everything super stable. I fire up 3dmark06 and its crashes.
So I checked both GTX280 and on the bottom slot the fan is not working, I touch the card and it is hot enough it burned my finger. 
Can you think of any reason that both would power up but the fan would only work on one card? Could I need a bigger PSU? I guess I will have to move them around and troubleshoot what is the problem.

Well I took out the problem card and put it in the top slot by itself (no SLI) and the fan works fine. So the card is not the problem, it is either the MB or PSU.
