When you try to install Windows Vista, you may receive an error message that resembles the following:
    STOP 0x0000000A (parameter1, parameter2, parameter3, parameter4)
    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
    • The computer uses more than 3 GB of RAM.
    • The computer uses a storage system that is running the Storport miniport driver.
    • The computer uses a controller that uses 32-bit direct memory access (DMA).

Is there consensus on which manufacturer's 790i ultra board is best and most stable?

I am leaning towards S2E from ASUS, but just wondering if the corruption issues have been permantently solved?

Also I want to put 8GB RAM (from my sig), has S2E had problems with 8GB?

8GB...I think you'll be the first in this thread. I for one would love to see someone try it. I intend to move to 8GB when prices fall further on 2GB 1800 sticks.

Anand posted this article where they overclocked the Asus 790i with 8GB of hand picked OCZ. http://www.anandtech.com/weblog/showpost.aspx?i=419 so I guess technically it's possible but the amount of tweaking I have had to do just to get to 1800 with 4GB leads me to believe you will have trouble with 8GB.

I dont know if 8Gbs would be hard to get working, but thats the risk you take when you buy the Striker II.

I doubt that they will run at 1800mhz or 2000mhz even if they are rated for those speeds. You will probably have to end up underclocking them to 1600mhz, who really knows. Like you said, I think there is nobody with 8Gbs here so we cant tell for sure.

Just ordered 2 X 2GB of 1800MHz Corsair Dominator to upgrade my existing memory. Also been workng all day fitting EK Watercooling blocks to my NB, SB and mosfets. Gonna run this with a new Feser Triple Rad I've just bought. I've taken both my GX2s apart and fitted EK water blocks as well. Will put it all back tomorrow when the new memory and a new case and power supply come!!
    Wish me luck.

Wow that's a monster rig for sure...so are you going to mix 1600 and 1800 ram to get to 8GB? Hope that works out for you. Christ the only thing you could possibly do to get the system any faster would be to RAID SSD's. Envy!!

Wait tyke, why a new PSU? Isnt your 1.1k psu enough? Are you going for the 1300watts? Haha, that would be a nucler plant.

Why did you change your RAM... again? I thought you were happy with your 1800Mhz OC You plan to go 2000Mhz?

    Good Luck my friend

    Hi Warboy,

Sorry to bother u, but, I think u have a pretty clear idea regarding OC, so I need your help to get my system 100%rock solid.
I'm going crazy trying to pull 3.77Ghz or more out of my Conroe Core 2 Duo X6800 Extreme Edition.
I finally got my S2E last thursday and i can't get it running stable at those speeds.
The default multiplier is 11 for the X6800. So I currently have it at 1371Mhz FSB, I gotta a pair of Corsairs TWIN3X2048-1600C7DHX running at 1600Mhz (7-7-7-20).
Current Vcore is 1.5825 which to me is pretty darn hi, I've been around forums and I see guys pulling out 4Ghz with much less voltage
My NB is at 1.46, SB 1.65, CP VLL Auto, VTT 1.36 all the rest on auto.
Any help that u might give, or anyone reading this, will be much aprreciated.
Forgot to mention that i got it all running on water.
On this settings, so far i got Orthos running on background for 20 minutes now with no erros.
Again, any help, will be great.

    Thanks Slim

Yes I am going to give 2000MHz a go, and see if I can get CAS7 at 1800MHz. Will also try 8MB and see how it goes. As I can't get my blue slots to run at 1800MHz with two sticks it should be fun. I have had problem with the 8 pin connectors and the GX2s on the Tagan so I have ordered a Toughpower 1200W that a friend has recommended. Looking forward to see what NB/SB temps I get with the EK blocks, and hopefully some heavy overclocked SLi action with the GX2"s on water. I am also doing a complete replacement of both WC loops.
    Regards

    380x10= 1520 FSB
try setting your memory between 1100-1300mhz to start with.
increase volts to VTT, and the NB.
Try aiming as low as Multipler as possible, so you can get max FSB. But remember try to stay in a small range. I found so far the best divider is 1800FSB/1600MEM area.
thats why i tried to keep it with 1850FSB/1666MEM, since it's the exactly the same divider.

Tweak those settings and see where it gets you, Once we find settings that work. we can move upward.
My Rig can do EpicFLOPs, Can yours?

CAS7 with 1800Mhz would be killer, but hard to achieve too. You got to post some pics of that rig man

try setting your memory between 1100-1300mhz to start with.
increase volts to VTT, and the NB.

First of all, thanks a lot for your reply my friend.
I'm gonna start right now to test those settings. Just one question before I go, shall I leave the vcore on the current value?

    Thanks again a lot.

It's fine to leave it right there, But Remember you might need to tweak it the higher you go, I know it took my 65nm E6600 about 1.55v to hit 3.65Ghz
My Rig can do EpicFLOPs, Can yours?

    Sure.

I just ordered the S2E board plus another MSI GTX280 for SLI.

I found that the MSI is a great value. It comes with 650Mhz factory clock at 602Mhz price. The one that I already have overclocks to 700Mhz no problem.
