    RAM Compatability

    Hi

Does any1 know whether this board supports 4 1GB Sticks of PC-8500 Corsair Dominator ram?

I was going to get 2 2GB Sticks but they are out of stock. If the 4 1GB Sticks dont work properly on this board does any1 know if the2 2GB sticks work?

    Both in Dual Channel!!!

If neither can any1 recommend good PC-8500 RAM that can overclock to 1200Mghz that goes well with this mobo>?

    Thanks

P5Q Deluxe works pretty well here I was with P5K-E before and i have P5Q since 2 days... But there are many differencies bethween old mainboards i have and this... Now i run Orthos at 515 FSB witch was impossible before... And it also looks so nice and has a 8 SATA ports for my 8 HDD
Tommorow i will try to get better clock so we will see what will happen...
I leave it to drun orthos and go to sleep and hope to not to wake up because of sound by crashed Orthos but

How do you use the sata port behind the two angled ports? It is not covered by the VGA PCB?

I cut one side of the SATA connector verry little and its just enought everything to fit I saw TouGe found another way with angled connector but i need this angle of connector for HDD side... So now you have two variant to choose bethween them

    heat issues

So I got this board to replace my dead P5B deluxe. I was expecting a lot because I saw many good things about this board on the net.

However, I've been experiencing some heating issues. I have a H2O kit by Astek --> http://www.svc.com/03-l-1345.html

The loop is: pump--> radiator w/ 4 fans at max --> block --> pump

I'm using Arctic Cooling MX-2 for paste and FluidXP+ for coolant.

I've tested it with my E6600 first and then my Q6600 (which I am sticking with rite now). Both idle at about 40celcius and then at load it will get to 70 for all cores (doesn't sound right for a H2O system). This is at 1.2v vCore! At first I thought it was poor contact with my sink and the CPU. I have reapplied it many many times, but to no avail. The water system is acting normal, no water bubbles (at least none that I can see), but I flushed it anyways, but still really high temps.

The H2O system was fine when I had the P5B deluxe, idling at about 30-33 Celsius and then load is about 45 MAX, but this is on my C2D, not the C2Q (didn't have access to it until i broke my P5B). I am thinking it could POSSIBLY be the block and not be optimized for a C2Q...but iunno how much that make sense...I am looking at the D-tek Fuzion v2 or the swiftech apogee gt.

Is my thinking right? Need some help. Also...is the H2O system I've good (like mid-end H2O system?)?

How is the pump connected ? to the mobo or direct to the PSU ? Are you sure the CPU block does't touch the surrounding heatpipes and that it doesn't fit 100%

Can you take a picture of ya PC innards plz and especially the CPU zone

Chrisch is using Corsair Dominators on his P5Q Dlx but only 2 dimms, dunno if he has 2 more to test... If ya want 1200Mhz only way to go is with 4 high quality sticks or the OCZ Flex II 1150 series, the latter are 2 X 2Gb sticks (Hope Touge is testing them soon)...
If ya want to stick around 1000-1066Mhz zone 4GB kits ( 2 x 2) like the Gskill PC8000PQ or Mushkin PC8000 Redline work fine here ( even with 8gb installed)
You will need to flash to 0604 or later to get them Dominators working properly...

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

The pump is connected to the power-supply via a 4-pin molex. The pump is rated at 1020 litre/hour. The Radiator is one of the best in the business (i think) HW Lab Black Ice Pro II 240mm. I have 4 120mm, two front and two back. The only "weak" link i can think of is the block which is pretty old and designed for P4s, not quad cores.

    Here are some pics

Hook up the pump straight to the PSU not after splitting it a few times for ya fans... I think the pump is not pumping fast enough...you told us you had the same bad idle temp ( I hope it's the core temps you read out and not the CPU temp of the bios ) with the E6600 so something is wrong for sure with ya cooling setup... and tidy up that case

    Here's mine :

Just posted this to the Q9450 OC thread, but figured it was worth adding here as well:

I'm currently running a Q9450 / P5Q Deluxe / TRUE combo and have been REALLY impressed by the stability I've gotten so far. From everything I read quads looked like finicky critters, but I'm sitting here typing this after 7+ hours of new prime (25.6.1.0) stability with 3.4 (8x425) & 425/4-4-4-12 - everything on stock volts except the memory at 2.1V. I removed the P5Q heatpipe assembly 1st so I could replace the stock TIM with AS5 and then cable tied a 40mm scythe mini-kaze fan to the nb heatsink - both of which may be helping. I'm going to try to push it up to 3.6 tomorrow - if I have to increase the voltage at all to get to 3.6 I might just stick with 3.4, slap a 2nd scythe s-flex and turn all my fans down to 7V.

Max real temp temps while priming at 3.4 are 55-54-54-53. I'm using Shin-Etsu X23-7783D and was a bit worried about the application (spotty at best), but these temps look good to me. Could they be lower / should I reseat? I opened up the case to touch the TRUE / NB heatsink - the eX-120 is much cooler to the touch than my oc'ed E6400 (which maxed at ~45C) & the nb heatsink / heatpipes are barely warm.

Good luck getting ot 3.6Ghz mate, was the TIM easily removable or is it the same horror Asus put on the Rampage series ( that was like hardened glue )

It was no way near as hard as the crap they put on the Maximus Formula, at least that was my experience.

    Ave,

Alright, attempted some OC'ing and right off the bat, the P45's stability is mind blowing. I hit a wall @ 360 with my old E6420/P5W setup - but on this P5Q/Q9450, even at stock volts i'm pushing the FSB without any stability issues whatsoever. And i'm on Air (AC7).

    Got a 100% OC: 3.6Ghz (450 X 8) / DDR2-901 (1:1)

6 hrs Prime95 (Small FFT's) Stable & OCCT 2hrs Stable with pretty much all stock volts (including RAM) & 1.325v CPU ...

The only thing i'm concerned about right now is temperatures. Idle around 40 is fine, but during Prime95 (small fft's) after an hour into 100% on all four cores, temperatures were starting to hover around 65 - 70 as reported by Real Temp. Should I be concerned? Also, is there anything under BIOS I can change to lower temperatures?
