Wait for BIOS and stick to latest drivers. I havent tried removing the sound card, that can also be the problem, it can be Auzentech, but it has X-Fi after all (since Tyke removed his, his problems went away), but I can live with single card for now since SLI works for my games.

Yeah I think thats the brand, I think its the best option since its low-profile and wont interfere with long cards.

Now i keep getting lockups on the desktop.

Didnt do this for the first week with these drivers. Now its starting to do it in games.

sfc /scannow shows no problems, im completely stock.

Im so sick of this. Im so close to RMAing the board, selling my 9800GTXs for 100 dollars less then i bought them and buying some 4870s (when they come out) and a rampage formula/p5e3 premium (depending on whether i sell this RAM or not). My only worry is the useless RMA system in australia. And ill be without a computer for a while.

Im also tired of this, but Im giving this lastest 177.39 drivers with PhysicsX a try just to see the real potential of my cards

Have you guys seen the prices of the 9800GTX? $210 for the KO version, is amazing how the prices went down $60 in a matter of hours.

I paid 400 bucks for each of my 9800GTXs. That was the standard price here at launch. I should be able to get away with 300 bucks each now second hand.

I paid 640 bucks for this mainboard, which was the cheapest available in Australia. Worst purchase ever. The Rampage Formula is about 340 bucks here, so if i RMA the S2E and get full price back, i can make up for the loss on the GTXs. Ram is a bit of an issue but, dunno if i can get that returned. And i will probably have to have a big loss to sell that. But, DDR2 is pretty cheap, and 8gig sounds cool.

I just dont know if i could be bothered with it all . Nvidia should just make the thing work, like it SHOULD have at release.

This also may be my last Nvidia board purchase. Ever.

Edit: Ok ive decided, if these new "9800GTX drivers" that are rumoured to come out, dont fix my problem and dont add considerable power to the card. Im going to the land of the Red.

    Hi Slim,

Just installed my GTX 280s (yes, I'm now broke). With SLi enabled, I can watch two one minute AVIs in Windows Media Player. Those are the only videos I currently have easily accessible until I get everything dialed in and this becomes my main rig.

So, no SLi problems here so far. Though those videos may not have been long enough to be a good test.

Did you do a driver clean and then a re-install of the 177 driver?

I changed driver and i think the problem was i wasnt using SLI...So now im only SLI stable and not single card stablemakes no sense.

every users with freezing videos has only ONE solution, throw this ing Striker II thru window and buy better board. I RMAed my THIRD SIIEx (first was unoverclockable higher then 350MHz FSB) (second and third) has video freezing at stock too ...

I bought reference eVGA board and i am happy with 450MHz FSB, 4GHz QX9650 and mem at 2000MHz ... orthos, prime, games in GTX 280 SLI are pretty stable ... finall i have nF790 stable rig.

Okay, I'm at 1600 linked and synched for a modest CPU overclock of 3.2GHz. It was stable for 9 hours in Prime95 in a 88f room before I stopped the test to continue working on the system.

    Settings:

    vcore 1.27500v
    llc Disabled
    pll 1.52v
    vtt 1.32v
    memory 1.86v
    nb 1.46v
    sb 1.50v

The only issue at this point seems to be that about one out of five "warm reboots" freezes the computer pre-post. It's not a big deal since I press reset button, go into BIOS, save, and get out. . . and then I boot into Windows that is none-the-wiser.

But, at some point, I'll want to fix this issue. I've tried bringing each of the above up one or two notches. But the added heat seems a bit wasteful considering it's otherwise stable. So if I'm going to crank one up, I'd rather only do it to the one that's really, truly necessary.

So, any idea which voltage is most likely to be the culprit here in causing the system to not POST after a warm reset. . . but only sporadically (1 out of 5 warm restarts)?

    Thanks!

    Increased Voltages to the following. Still getting that sporadic hang pre-POST;

    Vcore 1.32500v
    LLC Disabled
    PLL 1.52v
    VTT 1.34v
    MEM 1.90v
    NB 1.50v
    SB 1.50v

Not really willing to go much higher than these without some direction and I've now gone back to my lower settings. Anyone else experiencing this on BIOS 801? I suppose it could just be a BIOS issue and/or a non-voltage issue that may be resolved later. Then again, could be a dreaded faulty board! Doh!

I can almost say Im 100% sure this is a BIOS problem more than a driver issue, however, there IS people who fixed this with updated drivers so I cant guarantee anything. BTW, thats a lot for a motherboard

You are on 177.35 right? Cause thats what people is using now and some are stable.

Wait, you making this sound like a serious problem, is there any?

BTW, Im going to freak out, Im back to 0703 with settings that I used to be stable for 25 hours and now this sh*t failed core#0 in 2 hours and then core#3 after 4 hours. I cant believe this.

Also, 177.39 with PhysX didnt do ANYTHING for my SLI issue. However, it added 500 points to my 3DMark06 , I used to get around 30-40FPS in all tests, now the FPSs were all the way in 100-120!

HP also went with evga 790i ultra for their new blackbird. They had used the 680i striker for their previous blackbird. So, I guess they learnt a lesson with their strikers!!!!

I cannot for the life of me get vista 64 to boot with 2 2gb G.Skill sticks installed.

    I can run just fine with 1 stick. The RAM is G.Skill 1600 1.90v 7-7-7-18. I have a Striker II Extreme running 0704 (and I tried 0801). The CPU is a Q9450, and I have 2 Raptor-X drives in Raid 0.

If anyone can help me get this thing to boot, you will seriously make my weekend. I am so tired of messing with these settings. No matter what I do, I cannot get it to boot. I get my BSoD upon startup after the first reboot, after installation.

If I install with 1 stick, and get it all setup, once I put 2 sticks in, it BSoD's on boot again.

I believe it is saying: "Windows has shut down to prevent damage." or something like that.

Have you tried putting the memory in the white slots?
    Regards
    Tyke

    Yes.

I also tried putting them both in the first blue/white slots.

No dice. Using 2 sticks causes the BSoD.

I had the same issue when I was first setting up the system...even at below stock Vista64 install would BSOD. Use 1 stick to install OS then put the other stick in once your setup. Also I would do a complete system back-up to offline drive so you can quickly do a full restore if something goes harry.

    I think it was a RAID + 4GB + Vista64 combo issue.

Well, when I watch a video, flash OR a file it would lock....until I found out it was my 2ed 8800GT that had finally died again.

After the last bios update my PC has been running corruption free WOOT.
