There's a GTX 280 ForceWare 177.35 Performance review over at TweakTown with an indication that the NDA for the HD 4850 has been moved forward and look for their review in the coming hours! Anybody else have a clue if this is true and what date?

    Final Thoughts
    ...
We will be keeping up with the performance of the GTX 280 and the driver development over the coming months to see what NVIDIA pull out of the hat. While I would normally write some long winded final thoughts about the drivers, I’m going to wrap it up quickly because I just got word that the NDA for the HD 4850 has been bought forward.

So let’s wrap this up nice and quick. The GTX 280 is still disappointing me and I’m mega excited about the HD 4850. The End! - Look out for our HD 4850 content in the coming hours!

woot! it's awesome cards like these at outstanding prices that drives all other cards down so cheap. i can't believe i'm seeing x1900s and such in the $50 range these days.

what's the power consumption on these, or did i miss that?

Since they are a mere 110W cards, a name brand, quality PSU with at least 35A or so on the 12v rails should be just fine.

That was a huge jump and I wonder if all of the cards suffer from this as I have seen rumors of other 4850's with similar temps (IE: FUD).
The card makes no capacitor squealing noise even during ATI TOOL scanning. I also ran 3d01 which makes most cards squeal if they are going to, not a peep out of it.
    Hi jimmyz
i have ASUS 4850 card, and am experiencing the same thermal problems, now i am waiting for ac accelero s2 cooler, to help my new ati card get rid of some heat.
I have also tried some games with it, and so far i could boost everything on max with 4xaa 16af (1360x768), except crysis which i dont have (tomorrow i will try demo).

Does anyone know if you can use a MAZE4/5 on this card?

Sorry for the double post, but Jimmy, a new hotfix was released for the 4 series cards here. Would you mind seeing if that boosts performance any?

I figured out the problem with the bench in Vitsa. I got a new HDD and had to reinstall it all. It wouldnt work at first, went in to msconfig and disabled UAC and now it works. You should give it a try.

He didn't start the thread. Some one took it from his website without his knowledge.

    4850 with Accelero S2

    Hi everybody,
with accelero s2 and one 120mm fan on it, 4850 idles at 35c, and max load at 45c, so far max oc 700gpu/1150ram (at 1200ram there are artifacts in 3dm06 here and there). I am eagerly waiting on oc tools to get support for 4850, so i can get more from gpu

hotfix improved my 3dmark06 and Vantage scores. no benefits for me in Crysis, which still doesn't appear to scale at all.

Can you please test in single card mod, Crysis and COD 4, w/wo AA and in various resolutions? I know I'm asking for too much, but it's the only way...

    Thanks!

There have been reports that the 4xxx series and 3xxx series do work in xfire with the new drivers. Want to give it another shot? Someone went from 12k something 3d06 with a 4850 to 14k something xfired with a 3870.
