I'm on my 3rd SIIE right now and my 4th set of OCZ mem, seems like these board are the word STRIKER worth it
At least they keep the tradition alive, had 4 Striker 680's before
    Could you try bios 0507?
    Yep,
    I´m submerged
This is absurd... how can ASUS allow such poor quality on their top board?
Ah well i´ll guess that its yet another RMA. But i´ll try 0507 just in case....
I´ll let you know how it goes.

Yes, I was surprised when I read that. Will probably try the white slots soon but I wonder why would ASUS make the secondary slots the better OCers?

    Hi Slim!

Well i actually went trough all BIOSes starting from 0507-0801 (well the ones i have anyway) No luck i´m afraid

I´ve also tested every slot with both the 2GB OCZ 1600 modules as well as the Corsair 1800 modules. The first two slots are the ones that functions at all.
Putting a module in slot 3 or 4 results in a no POST with the LCD error msg DET DIMM and thats it...

So i just got my fourth RMA process started. I still think that its a good board if i just could have a board that would work

    Cheers friends

Hi all, been reading this thread for a bit, and now I have a Striker II extreme on its way, as I needed some SLI action! LOL! I know its a bit of a gamble, and I know all the problems you people are having, but im hoping that i'll be a bit lucky, and maybe help add to the great advice in this thread.

I was just wondering one thing... has anyone watercooled the NB on this board, and if so, did they use the fusion block that comes with the stock heatsink, or something else like an MCW30 (I have 2 sat here). If you guys are using a 3rd party block, does the stock cooling come appart like on my rampage formula, or do u have to find cooling for the PWM's and SB too?
    System Specs:
    Core i7 2600k
    Asus Maximus V Gene

Watercooled using the stock heatsink with no problems. Everything working Ok for me at settings as per my sig. The block is a single unit so you would need to cool everything, the SB would be a problem with SLi.

I would guess that your 3rd and 4th slots are defective, if you have tried different sticks and different brands then I think you can just RMA your board. Good Luck with the process.

If you are going to use Vista, you might be on the safe side with SLI, cant guarantee that though but there is a higher chance that you will have it working as it should.

If you are going to wc the NB, make sure you DONT use the plastic crap that comes in the ASUS package, I heard most people bought them from good brands and their NB didnt leak at all.
You dont need the SB to be water cooled, but a fan blowing towards it would be nice.
Since you are going WC, I recommend you WC your CPU and NB and leave the mosfets with Thermalright heatsinks and the SB with a low profile heatsink that was mentioned here back in page 40 I believe.

The NB plays a big role in the Striker II and having it with low temps helps a lot.

what kind of temps do u get watercooling the stock cooler vs. with the NB on air?

I am going to be using Vista most definately, although I do dual boot with XP for benching, vista is the OS I use on a 24/7 basis these days.

The CPU and NB will definately be watercooled. I'll check out page 40 and the thermalright PWM cooler etc.

I read somewhere that a few people found their NB waterblock to have been cracked/have leaks. Id definitely be sure to give that a triple check.

    Agreed Coupa

However, I havent heard that lately because 1) Like you said, people are triple checking and buying 3rd party things instead of using the ones that come in the box and 2) ASUS seems to have addressed this since I heard the first batches were the problematic ones.

The 177.35 Drivers are working really well for me. Theres a link so you can just download the inf file then get the driver off Nvidia.

I hope this can solve your SLI ups, cause its really helping with mine.

You havnt used 177 drivers yet have you?

I used SLi because I got a Advance RMA from BFG, No way in hell a Single GTX at stock can hit 20,000.

I was running at 3.75Ghz, with cards at 626/1000. When Benching Mark01, It would lockup on Nature. I heard it was a driver issue.

And to answer you, no I never tried the 177 series, hopefully this is what I was waiting for?

Dam, i was really hoping that one would work for you.

I mean, the only other thing to do is to wait for a BIOS right? Or perhaps its your sound card. Tried with the ASUS card instead? (You probably have, and im suggesting the obvious)

I have watercooling using stock waterblock - it drops about 10C. For me its on 45-50C. The real problem is the SB - right under GFX card - hot as hell - watercooling NB has almost no effect on SB... At the same time in same system CPU on load is max 50C, and 34 on idle.
