Hi all,
i've got a e8400 having temperature problems on.The first one is, In bios it shows around 56 celcius, everest says it's around 45 celcius and asus pcprobe 2 says 38 celcius
WTF is it? which one should i care?
Secondly, when i stress the cpu with everest my cpu temp went up to 79 celcius and seemed to get over 80 if i didnt stop.
i am using ocz vendetta2 and my e8400 is @3.6 ghz
can anyone help me?![]()
janjan: A lot of temp monitoring software is using the wrong TjMax. Download RealTemp and see what it says. Here's some software temp testing of an E8400.
Run CPU-Z and make sure your core voltage isn't too high. Some Asus motherboards when the core voltage is set to AUTO get way too generous with additional voltage when you start to overclock which only creates extra heat. Most E8400 chips can run 3.6 GHz with about 1.20 volts and many of the better chips can do it with less than that.
Absolutely true. When i installed my e3110 yesterday both coretemp and everest were returning a wrong temp for the cores. RealTemp was instead getting too low. Setting a tjmax at 95c is giving believable results.
Strangely the "cpu" read from bios and everest seems correct.

Using Rampage Formula
Dtek Fuzion v2
Standard heatsink with 120mm fan on nb/sb (Soon to be change for Maze4) and not sure for sb.
Going to try some water chilling, anyone tried putting there phasechange head on the water Rad, quick and dirty?Head of phase ain't compatable with board u see.
Curious how many of you guys went from a Q6600 to one of these? Any complaints?
i3 2100, MSI H61M-E33. 8GB G.Skill Ripjaws.
MSI GTX 460 Twin Frozr II. 1TB Caviar Blue.
Corsair HX 620, CM 690, Win 7 Ultimate 64bit.
I'm really trying to figure out if I have the hottest running E8500 out there - I'm running "low" volts at 1.264v and getting 55-65c load (ambient temps depending...damned Los Angeles summer...) I'm using a TRUE with a high CFM Coolermaster fan with the exhaust fan from my case 2-3 inches away in a mock push/pull config
I know I'm running at 4037mhz but seems like I'm getting lower voltage than many for my clock but 10c (ish) high temp wise, even with the lower ambient 55c load seems high (realtemp measured)
I'm planning a move to another mobo in hopes of higher clocks then my 650i board can give me (limited fsb and 3 phase power be damned)
really need some advice here or thoughts - ready to buy a TEC cooler or water...
FYI damaged one core at 4500 MHz at 1.6250 when one core went to 102c, realtemp. Still runs ok but will not complete a stability test.

you'll be so glad moving from 650i manwolfies do not OC so good on those nforce chipset because of the "little war" between Nvidia and Intel.
Concerning the Watercooling, if your room's temp's are high, you won't gain too much from that concidering the "complications" of a watercooling... (not too difficult but not as easy as air cooling). And this unless you chill your water circuit
