Guys, could you please help me with this if you can.

Vista won't go to sleep or hibernate properly.

For sleep it just turns the monitor off and that's it. For hibernate it will pretty much look like it's working then freak out when it's restarting, black screen and all the fans roaring at me.

All BIOS stuff turned on, all drivers up-to-date.

For some reason I think it might be to do with the awful ASUS software I had installed briefly. Specifically this 'ATK ACPI 0110K Utility' device in the device manager that won't go away, but I've no idea really.

Does anyone else have problems with sleep etc in Vista with this board? It's Vista x64 SP1.

damn. Well it's not fixed for me, and I'm on the 2704 one or whatever it is

Do you think it could be anything to do with that AHCP driver thing? I saw on the set-up guide on the official forums that they tell you not to install anything like that (it appears in windows update) unless you're using the AiBooster program. If I uninstall it, the device is still there in device manager and bugs me to install a driver for it every time I start up!

Anyone had problems with this or am i barking up the wrong tree? It's just I defiantly have the latest BIOS. It's happened all the way through all the BIOSs I've had since I 'upgraded' to Vista.

    IMHO no.

Can you run E8400 at stock voltage? Does mobo allow you that?

Found that board can't change multiplier on 45nm CPU. It gives me options: 6, 7, 8 and 9 for my E8500, without any X.5 options, but then I restart with any multiplier, board can't start. It even can't restarts automatically with fail save settings as it always starts after failed oveclocking, so I have to open the case and use Clear CMOS jumper. After that board starts and offers any multiplier from 6 to 20, also non of then can be used, after restart this wide range closes to 6 to 9.

Not to affraid somebody wanted to buy 45nm CPU, it works perfectly with native multiplier even if it is X.5, as my 9.5. Simply don't change any options with multiplier. It works only on 65nm CPUs.

i'm on 4x 1G sitcks of the nq. i recommend getting the hz's(black heatspreaders) since you're inexperienced with overclocking. the hz's have micron d9 chips and are a breeze to oc.

does nobody have any ideas about my Sleep problems? It's incredibly annoying. It happens on a fresh install of Vista too.

Ive tinkered around with it, and I now have it so that when 'allow hybrid sleep' is not checked, the Hibernate option seems to work fine. I don't really want to go through the hassle of starting up the computer every time though. When it IS checked the Hibernate option isn't there, but now the Sleep option seems to work for a second, then the computer just powers up again with the fans roaring, and needs to be reset.

I've gone through all the WakeArmed stuff in the command prompt, nothing is set to wake the PC apart from my PS2 keyboard

Multiplier adjustments work fine on an extreme edition 45nm chip (QX9650) although no .5 multipliers, but I guess the non XE chips handle multipliers differently, thus the problem? I never used a 65nm non XE chip, so I don't know how it functioned on those....

I thought you couldn't change multipliers on non XE's? Or did non XE's always have a limited adjustment?

You can always go lower on any Intel CPU till the lowest multi 6X, but with the Extreme CPU's you have the possibility to go higher than the stock multi...

    Eg Q6700 : multis from 6-10
    Qx6700 : multis from 6- eg 20
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

I have a problem with using the P5W DH Deluxe with the Q9300. I recently was using the Q6600 with X64 windows vista. I replaced the cpu, whenever i replace the cpu, the bios say no cpu detected and I click load default system settings and I get into windows fine. But that is only the first time. Afterwards, whenever I go to windows x64 i would get stop errors, even when I try to setup vista I would get stop errors. I do not know why this happens. Everything is tight. So the only way for me to use my pc is to plug my old q6600 in then take it back out then put my q9300 back in until it says new cpu detected then I use my computer. As soon as I shut it off and/or restart my pc, the computer it would not work and I would get all types of stop errors like driver_irq_not_less_or equal or page fault in non paged area. I don't know why Iget this errors. I apprecaite any help you can provide. I already updated to the latest version of the bios for the P5W DH Deluxe MB .thanks

65nm E6750 lowers multiplier to 7 or 6 without errors, but 45nm E8500 can't change them. I think it's because non-XE chips have locked multiplier, but ability to lower it leads not from an open multilplier to lower numbers, but from using Intel power saving features on such chips in this unnormal way. On 45nm CPU board haven't any such features in BIOS, so they don't work if wanted to change multiplier.

Then I change my E6750 to E8500, board loads with No CPU detected message and frequirency about ~500MHz. So I load setup defaults and everything is ok. Try maybe to clear CMOS by jumper. See also voltages, maybe add some. Simply don't know how to help, try this standart steps first.

I found something interesting, when I installed 1 stick of 1 GB ram, my system boots flawlessly. But as soon as I installed more than 1 GB ram it doesn't work. Same thing I tried buying new ram from the store and same result. Any solutions anyone

    Still happens man

Everything is unplugged at the back except the PS2 mouse and keyboard. powercfg -lastwake doesn't appear to be registering it as a wake, but weirdly when I reset the computer when all the fans are roaring etc it starts up and all my windows etc are open as they should be as if it's returned from sleep with no problems

So was this a known problem that was supposed to have been fixed by ASUS? Do you think it might be a Vista thing rather than a BIOS thing then?

Also, can someone point me at the relevant sections in Eventviewer that might pount to what is causing this? It's rather labyrinthine and I'm not sure I'm looking in the right place in there!

    Cheers

That is a real strange one Sorry I can't help. I had similar issues with hibernation in XP 32-bit a few months back, but it's worked fine for me since I went to Vista 64-bit.
