Any body having any problems with the Board/Bios handling a failed overclock?

I'm currently overclocking a Q9450 not really pushing it but I have noticed it will just sometimes shutdown and then refuse too boot. Doesn't seem to want to load default setting like my P5K Delux. If I switch off the PSU for 10 secs it will then boot but with a cleared cmos.

    Anybody experiencing this problem.

Only bought it yesterday so I'll just RMA.

Apart from that very impressed with the low chipset voltages and high fsb.

    Using 704 Bios

    Update.

Just had it priming happily in windows. I then asked for a restart from windows. The system restarted and then shutdown. It now refuses to boot. Only way I can get it to reboot is to turn the psu for 10 secs and then it clears the cmos.

Mine would do the same thing if I raised my nb voltage past 1.26v...As a matter of fact it didn't want to be anywhere BUT 1.26v . 1.2v was fine for nb all the way to 3.8ghz but beyond there it wanted and finally accepted a bump to run at 4ghz .

You prolly have some setting not right, or just too low voltage somewhere... I always switch off PSU with a no boot, as indeed sometimes a forced power down doesn't always reset the CMOS... Can you fill in the template plz

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

I think you could be right. I have left settings on Auto for the NB and it pretty much fails after a restart. Just set the NB voltage to 1.2 and it seems to be working fine. Perhaps Auto is pushing the NB voltage above 1.3?

My Vista key says its in use now since changing the board bah!

Yeah I've found the bad overclock recovery to be average at best. I've had it automatically clear all settings a couple of times (tho thankfully it left the saved profiles untouched).

Has anyone else changed the vcore limit jumper yet? I did it last night for my 4.3ghz run and it booted at over 1.9v on first boot

    Hey mate.
Strange when they got it spot on with the P5K, Formula .......

Great board though. Booting at 500FSB with a Q9450 at min chipset voltage. Can't fault it.

That is a good fsb for a q9450 most dont go over 475ish.

    What about :
    load line calibration? au/dis/ena
    dram static read control? au/dis/ena
    dram read traning? au/dis/ena

which setting is more stable is any difference?

    btw:
    500x6 e8500 and the lowest voltage in bios-stable (orthos,spi32m)

edit: 560x6 and still lowest voltage

    edit:ok 565x6 that's max stable fsb without increase any voltages(not cpu)-I love this board-really

please measure the NB voltage with DMM

I saw this in a german review

this shows the NB voltage @ AUTO, 1.10v and 1.12v with higher FSB

    Awesome! Will do!
For the CPU Clock Skew & NB Clock Skew, PMP had mentioned setting them to 400 & 100 (respectively) - is that standard for all CPU's? I'll be using the Q9450 - do I need to change those values?

Are those scores Prime95 stable? Awesome scores there Cob! Can't wait for you to dig into oc'ing the Q9450 into that board!

That is AWESOME! Exactly what I wanted to hear. I have a Q9450 that I'll be OC'ing over the weekend. Running at stock for a few days. I'd like to take it as close to 500FSB as possible on air - your post sounds promising. Care to share your BIOS settings? All I did was set all the chipset voltages to there min value. Left all the GTL on auto. Seems very overclocker friendly out of the box without doing anything much. This is not prime stable or anything like that I just wanted to see if it would boot at 500 FSB

Where do you get the Stock Voltages (chipest) from?
My OCZ 4GB kit is listed at 2.1V & Q9450 is listed at 0.85V – 1.3625V in their specifications. Not sure what Stock Voltages for anything else is.

    Cob - I see you've lowered the Multi. Can you boot @ 450 X 8?

Yip she boots at 450x8 ok. Just managed 460x6 by upping the PLL to 1.56v. Still early days.

    Actually make that 470x6.

I consider the stock chipset voltages to be the lowest setting that isn't Auto. Stock voltage of your memory is 2.1v, and Core Temp will give you the VID (stock voltage) of your CPU.

480 X 8 boot up is not bad to begin with! Pretty good IMO, although needs to go through stability. Thanks on the Stock Voltages info - I'll do the same on my end to begin with.

    Keep us posted.

Edit: What's the benefit of lowering Multi?

I edited that just as you quoted it. It should have said 450x8 and not 480x8.

Saying that I'm now in Windows at 480x6 using the 1.56v PLL.

I'm just trying to find the highest FSB atm because. I'll put her back on the x8 multi when I've done so.

For now I got to 515 SuperPI 1M stable (ALL SETTINGS AUTO ONLY CPU voltage set to), and 505 PRIME 95 stable (same settings) this is on Q6600

Now I have some more questions:
What are max voltages (24/7 and bench) for those settings:
    CPU GTL VOLTAGE REFERENCE 0/2
    CPU GTL VOLTAGE REFERENCE 1/3
    PLL
    FSB
NB (i dont know for this mobo)
    NB GTL REFERENCE
    SB
    PCI-E SATA

I need to know for Q6600, and everything is water cooled, and additional fans on hot elements. Thank you!

if you look at the pic you can see that its not only auto settings

if you set NB voltage to 1.10v it overvolts same as auto setting
