Weird... why would the "secondary" slots be the ones that overclock better?, Everybody is used to put the RAM sticks in the first and third slot.

BTW, I just finished watching a 700Mb Movie (28 weeks later) in VLC Player as well as a MKV movie (X-men 3 Blue-ray 8Gbs movie) from beggining to end
Now I will test Media Player Classic

Probably software from vendor will be the best for each one. Try Hiren's Boot CD.

Still looking for some ppl with a Q6600 (G0) to share some overclocking settings. I have a "pretested" CPU which goes easily 3600Mhz on an Intel board and i also got it stable on the Striker - at least prime stable which shows no errors after 4 hours.

However i got system freezes (no BSODs) from time to time and i don`t know whats going wrong (Bios 0801).

These are my current settings under load (9x400):

According to the GTL guide of Anandtech i tweaked all of the 4 GTLs to +28mV.

Mem was tested already (Memtest + Prime) and shows no errors. 7-7-7-70 are not that critical timings, according to TechpowerUp you can go 6-6-6-18 or even better with it.
Don`t get me wrong, it would be even ok if the CPU will go 3400 or 3500 "only", i just would like to see other user´s stable settings.

Many thanks for your time TRIGGER ...
Unfortunately your settings do not work for me ....
Wich i can understand, because we have different processors.
However, and since i was gonna do some tests, i flashed again to BIOS 0801.
As i already said, with BIOS 0801 i am getting several TRD´s ( driver has stopped working and was recovered) when playing Crysis just after a short time i even cannot finish 1 loop of the Crysis benchmark without having a TDR. That doesn´t happen at all with BIOS 0603, in fact it NEVER happened with BIOS 0603 all the hours i´ve played. I dont know why but i started thinking that this issue was related to the temperature of my 9800 GX2, it doesn´t make much sense because it works fine with BIOS 0603, but even then i went to Rivatuner and have increased the speed of my fan and.... BINGO
Now i´ve played Crysis for 30 minutes without having a TDR. And i have run the Crysis benchmark (3 loops) 4 times and everything was just fine...
Can you understand this?????
This board is driving me crazy!

No problem it was worth a try. I heard the GX2's cover the SB an heat it up alot. I'm using liquid cooling on the fusion block + my 8800GT's are single slot cards. Is your SB too hot from the GX2's maybe?

Also tried 1800..no good for me. Maybe next BIOS.

Video Freezes with SLI Enabled fixed with VLC Player!
Played 28 Weeks Later (700mbs 1:30 Hours) and also X-men 3 (Blue-Ray 1080p 8Gbs ~1:40 Hours) from beginning to end with no problem.

Solution, change VLC Player video output from Default to OpenGL

However, I would like somebody to help me out to fix video freezes with Media Player Classic Please!

Here in this picture you can see the video options for many different outputs.
In DirectShow Video I have already tried:

1)Overlay Mixer* [Result= Freeze] <--- This is the default when you install Media Player Classic
2)VMR9 (Renderless)** [Result= Freeze]
3)Haali Renderer** [Result= Freeze]

Tried all of this with default (the options selected on the picture are the default options). I have also tried

4)VMR9 (Renderless)** with "Use texture surfaces and render video in 3D*** [Result= Player closes, it also froze once]

I will keep trying, but I would like some help from the pros and anybody who could at least guide me to the right path.

Thanks!!!

OK I think I have a partial solution to this problem.

My Setup
Vista 64 bit
Q6600 2.4 Ghz (Overclocked to 3.0ghz)
Corsair Ram CM3X1024-1333C9DHX (as recommended in the Manual) 2 Gig
Enermax Galaxy 850W PSU (I maye need the 1000W unit)
Corsair Water cooling
9800 GTX SLI

I am running Bios 0801 that can be found here.

http://www.benchzone.com/Downloads/B..._Extreme/Beta/

I have slightly tweaked Bios and CPU:

I think the key to this the new Beta Drivers for the GTX 280

I am using beta Drivers 177.26 with a modded INF file to make them work with the 9800 GTX

Vist 64bit modded inf file
http://www.mediafire.com/?mvgmi1b8xct

Vista 32 bit modded inf
http://www.mediafire.com/?nthmmy2db02

This HAS STOPPED SLI LOCKUPS in games completely, however there are some issues.

Crysis Demo with DirectX 10, the driver stops work as soon as you load the into scene.
COH (not opposing fronts) After an hour of play the textures corrupt but no lockup Max Setting I'll try opposing fronts soon.
Call of Duty 4 (Demo) Max Settings Perfect no problem
BF 2142 perfect no problem at max settings
EvE Online running 2 clients works well be better with non sli and 1 client on each screen
Hells Gate Demo works very well

I did however get on 2 occasions hard crash with reboot, I might need to upgrade my PSU, I'll keep you posted.

I don't know if my Bios setting have anything to do with the stability but it's relatively stable.

Copy what I have done and get back to me, I'd like to hear if I have helped anyone else.

The drivers helped me alot too, i dont have those BIOS settings, but ill comment as well.

I have no issues with Crysis, it ran find for me, and no issue in CoD4 yet either. And Assassins creed ran just fine for the entire game.

However, yesterday i got a freeze in AC for like, 2 seconds, then it recovered. But i left the PC on today as i went to work (to heat up my room, its winter here in Australia). When i got home, the PC had frozen (numlock not responding etc). So ive OCed to 3.6Ghz and i played AC for 2 hours now, and ive had no issue whatsoever.

I think its just the drivers significantly improved the freezing issues, as i found out, its still is there, but its now very very rare. It may be possible to remove it through tweaking.

Hey guys

Im pretty worried about this

This is of course with Prime95 runnin with all 4 cores on load, but how can my NB temps be 60c when I replaced the thermal paste of the NB, SB and mosfets with MX-2, cleaned the chips and the heatsink with the Artic Cleaning set and made sure all screws were in place? I also have a Scythe Mini-Kaze 40mm on the right side of the water block blowing at 3500rpm. Whats wrong? Could it be because Im giving the NB 1.50v? or a sensor error? should I use another program?

My SB is also worrying me, 74c is hot!, Even though I have SLI, the SB is open and not covered. There are no cards on top of it and the Armor+ 230mm fan is blowing straight to it. Why such the high temps with default voltage at 1.50v? Because I have all 6 ports in use? or should I use another program?

No, 1.50V for the NB isn`t that much but i agree that the temp is a bit high, even when it is not too high. What bios version do you use ? Latest version of Everest ?

0704, Im using Everest 4.50.1355
I will check if there is a new version, but is there any other good program that reads the temps of the NB and SB?

The bios will display this info..I know this doesn't help once in windows but may give you an idea if you think a program is way off.

Im starting to dislike 0704, Runs prime for 8 hours, but then will freeze at 2 hours :S

Going to keep testing but right now, Im mad ancious for a new BIOS.

EDIT: Back to 0703, I dont want to waste energy on 0704 which I will end up changing anyways.

My SB is 52C under load at 1.60V, NB is 56C. This is with watercooling and a 120MM fan on the SB blowing between my GX2 cards. I am using Everest Beta 4.50.1403 which I think is the most up to date.

Hi Slim,

Looks like I have RAM issues. So I'm getting a set of Mushkin to replace my Patriots. Sorry that I haven't tested my rig for your SLi issue yet. But I'm using my other one in the rig on which I'm currently writing this!

I looked back but couldn't find this. . . why exactly did you move back to 0704 from 0801? I hope my memtest issues with my Patriot DIMMs (at stock speeds) aren't due to 0801!

Hello guys... I am really stuck!

My bench:
OEM Intel E8500
OCZ DDR3 PC3-14400 1800MHz DDR3 CL 8-8-8-24 1.95 Volts
Asus Striker II Extreme - 0704 (no corruption problems)

I have been testing all kind of different voltage settings for a week and I just cant get it 100% stable.
When I run 1.48 on NB it does calculate 1M SuperPi, but prime95 is an instant crash.
With 1.50 on NB (1.60 on SB) I can run prime95 for like 20min then it gives calculation error.
On all settings Crysis does crash in 5-30min - never got more then 30min of gameplay.

My most "stable" settings to date:

9.5 x 450 - 1800
CPU Voltage = 1.45
Loadline Calibration = disabled,
CPU PLL Voltage = 1.58
CPU VTT Voltage = 1.34
Memory Voltage = 1.96v
NB Core Voltage = 1.50v
SB Core Voltage = 1.60v
CPU GTL REF0 Ratio = Auto or +42
CPU GTL REF1 Ratio = Auto or +39
CPU GTL REF2 Ratio = Auto or +39
CPU GTL REF3 Ratio = Auto or +42
NB GTL REF Ratio = +40

I have h2o on MB and CPU and general quite nice air cooling, still NB gets to 50C after boot.

What can I do to get it stable? I have tried like 40 configurations on volts and FSB but it just never stable.
What is the path to test it and to find the problem? You can say I am a bit of a noob on Intel OC

Can it be bad MB or it just stupid me?

thx

I'm no expert but here's what I would do based on reading this thread...

It sounds silly but did you try offsets of the FSB...like 1802 or 1810. I could not get 1700 working a few bios ago and then I set it to 1702 and pow everthing fine and stable.

I have tried 1800 myself and cannot get stable there. I'm stuck at 1760 right now.

If that deosn't work...I would look at the RAM settings. P1 P2 to auto, try 1T instead of 2T, relax the timings, someone said the white slots are better than the blue slots... maybe worth a try.

Okey thanks! will give it a try as well as test the new 0801 bios.
It just I can replace my MB with another one almost cost free - but again I can get much worth board back... but want to kinda be sure that my problems are not "imposible" to fix - so I know if I need to exchange the board or not...
