Well it looks like my Ballistix PC28500s are bitting the dust. What is the best RAM for this board that doesn't cost an arm and leg? I'm on XP pro 32bit but I wouldn't mind getting 2x2gig sticks if I can keep them happy. If that's hit and miss, 2x1gig is fine. I've gone over the QVL at DFI but I'd like to know what some of yall think before I push the button. Thanks

That's not bad for a 2x2gig set. I'll add them to my list of possibles, thanks
I was looking at your earlier post about them and wondered if this is the set.
Starting to get ramdom shutdowns and getting a few errors with them. I'll RMA them but i've been wanting 4gig and I think 2x2 is the way to go over 4x1gig.
I'm also looking at the Corsair Doms PC28500. They come with the tri-fan and is only $109 after MIR with free shipping right now.
Decisions decisions.

Haven't had any problems with my doms. I've got the Corsair fan plugged into my system fan header so that I can control the speed via software, not too noisy if you limit the speed some.

Just wanted to share my board. I ended up having to machine my own top for the NB to get the DD MPC base to line up square with the X48 IHS. It's a perfect fit this way and completely covers the IHS. With 24C ambients, it's keeping the NB down to 29C under load so I think it's doing just fine. Love this board, this must have been the easiest OC for me yet. I just followed Clunks setting on the first page and managed to take my Q6600 all the way to 3.3 with 1.33 Vcore (Actual). Made it to 3.6 with 1.44 Vcore and still keeping it under 50C on all four cores.
This board makes my old 680i look cheap. My 680i used to make noises under load, and I thought that was normal. This board is silent and acts like it has no stress at all.
And the system running. Two loops, one 480GTX for the CPU and one for the 8800 and chipsets...overkill just the way I like it..

Has anyone here bought the Open Box version from the Egg?
I have one on the way, and would like to know what has been missing for the most part.

Yeah the NB heat sink would suck not to get... but if it's not there it'll be an excuse to order the enzotech sinks.
The sound card I already planned for by ordering an Xonar (i wanted one anyways though)
The sata cables and io plate are non issues for me if that's all that's been missing though.![]()
Hello guys, I have a LT on the way to use with a e8500 and I'm hopping that a few of you guys can give me some pointers (never had DFI before) and what bios to start with, nb vlt, etc. I will be on phase (had my q6600 @ 4ghz with 1.5v, but the board die and took the processor with it), so any help will be great. I've started reading the thread to help limit the questions, but its going to take me a few days. Thanks again for the future help.
i bought one from newegg open box had everything with it and even looked new the static bag over the board was even sealed still..

Hi,
I have been off some weeks now and now I try to find newer version of bios. Can anyone recommend me the best bios for me. My system in sign. For the moment I use the latest official (3.20.2008).

Literally makes a screeching sound? Is it coming from the buzzer or some component on the system?
Check your PC health status in the BIOS and wait a few minutes. See what the temps and voltages read during that time. Perhaps a heat sink isnt mounted properly or a power rail is going coo-coo.

Just uninstalled the sound card and software, but still no joy. Am I right that all I had to do was take the old CPU out install the new CPU and then clear the CMOS and boot her up go back into the BIOS and change a few things then restart or did I miss something![]()

That sounds like the proper procedure. Maybe its the sound card?
Take the A2ZS out and enable onboard sound - see how it boots up and runs. Your system health looks okay.
You could also try the A2ZS in another slot or try a complete driver uninstall/reinstall (might want to do this first if anything).
The only thing that I can think of would possibly be an IRQ conflict but I thought IRQ conflicts were only things we read about in history books - never heard of them in everyday situations.
