What about ordering from USA to Europe? Is it safe? You can easily safe up to 20-30%![]()
Dude, I live in Bosnia. Trust me, it worst... Here they take whatever they like. For example, my DDR2 that i my friend shipped my is just gone missing. I don't know what to do...
4850 these are going to be a nice option. introductory price of 250 aud...which i reckon means <200 bucks for a cheapy brand at some point in the future.
not to mention 3870's pricing...mm tasty pickings.
9800gtx vs 4850...hows that look? is it close in performance?
3d06 score makes me think 4850 is just an 8800gt.
...well, looking at yr crysis benches, the 4850 looks a bit better than my 8800gt with 4xAA@ high settings. ie 32 fps. ...and sub 20 fps with those settings on the gt i think @ 16x10. i remember that 16x12 @high in crysis XP was not playable for me with anything above 2xAA; more like 1280x1024 with 2xAA with gt for around 30fps.(21-35fps id say IIRC)
4850 vs 9800gtx vs 8800gt wood be interestink.
i hope the 4850 gets its arse tested off by the review sites.

Mark it as a 'review sample' and i've never had a problem...and yeah, USPS > UPS/FedEx/DHL
DHL = Drop it, Hide it, Lose it anyway :p
And yeah, tax rates in germany aren't the same as they are here (17.5% here as opposed to 19.6%) and the delivery cost would make up for any savings made on the purchase itself.

I refuse to participate in any debate with creationists because doing so would give them the "oxygen of respectability" that they want.
Creationists don't mind being beaten in an argument. What matters to them is that I give them recognition by bothering to argue with them in public.
fxvideocards (the store that supplied the test card) has a Zotac 8800gts (G92) for $147 + S/H after $40MIR
in stock too!![]()
After MIR my GTS was ~$220 shipped and included crysis, a game which I have yet to play... Though the 4850 OC'd might very well best my GTS(802core/2003shader/2248mem -> game/stress/bench stable @ 75% fan speed), The performance increase will IMHO be negligible and require replacing the stock single slot cooler. So we're already talking ~$200 for the card + ~$30-$60 for a decent after market cooler.
The 4850 is best for the budget oriented performance gamer who has not already bought and enjoyed an 8800GT(S) or 3870. Though I hope the 4870 and 4870x2 offer much more in terms of real world FPS(DX9 included as all games I still play are Dx9). For 4870x2 I pray there's no bridge chip and the shared memory is indeed a reality.
Wow, It's funny how far you're willing to take this since most Nvidia users are busy trying to convince me that the 9800GX2 is a better buy than a GTX 280 because its much cheaper
The 4850 is a nex gen card, and its performance will improve lots over the next few months as drivers mature

In the review, I didn't see a 3DMark06 score, only 3DMark Vantage. I only ask since it is an easy way to compare to cards that have already been reviewed or to cards that someone already owns, but doesn't have Crysis. Did I miss it or will it not be tested using 3DMark06?
Thanks,
Utnorris
Edit: NVM, I must be getting old since I missed it the first couple of times looking through the charts.

So where would this card be placed in relation to an 8800GT, 8800GTS & 9800GTX

you can't compare 3dmark scors across differnet platforms and come with any real conclusion
Anyways, new version of GPU-Z is out, can you get us a new shot jiimyz?
Granted, you cannot really compare one system that has a q6600 with another system that has a q9300, but you can still get some idea of whether or not the claims that have been made that these new generation chips are going to be twice as good as the current generation. Since this is the first legit review that I have seen so far, I am trying to get an idea of how valid the claims of being twice as good really are. That's all.
Thanks,

So then the claim that the 4850 would be twice as good as the 3850 or the 4870 would be twice as good as the 3870 is not a valid claim, correct?
