Thanks for that, I'll bear it in mind for the review rig, hopefully re-gooping it can help get a higher OC.

I hated my first 2900 stock cooler so much that I blew it up! Am tempted to get a couple of 4850s to replace my current 2900XTs.

why would you do such a thing? That could have not only been very dangerous because of the possibility of the pressure getting too high and the heatpipes bursting, but also you never know what could be in those fumes that could kill you.

That was a bad move imo for you own health and safety, next time just throw away what ever you do want

hey guys check this out, one of my friends noticed this with the 800 SP slide from nordichardware, the pixels of the writing and numbers have different resolutions, meaning that someone might have photoshopped it

it shouldn't change, which is showed by this picture he made

I don't think I'd have the balls to heat such a thing with a torch

I'd be too scared it was going to pop and spray burning hot vapors and copper in my face.

Look at his review thread and look at the size of the chip

Looks MUCH larger than the RV670 was... the 256mm^2 rumor might not've been true...

It's also rumored (by comparing pics of RV670 & RV770) that the die size is ~275mm^2. That seems more accurate IMO.

I can't seem to find the dimensions glancing around. Will these cards be any longer than the 9800 series for example? In short, will they, and likely the 4780x2, fit in a 900 without issue?

Sorry to ask a silly question covered 15897 times, but I can't remember offhand: was the 4870/4850 pushed back to June 26th, or are they still the 17th or so?

The 4850/4870's are all 9" long I believe so if you have an ATX motherboard, it should be fine

If I can fit an 8800GTX in my antec 900(only had to remove the fan duct behind the top HD Cage(the black one in the middle of the case, not the front bay fans) you should be ok, I'd imagine the 4870x2 can't be that much bigger.

    People are so paranoid.
I guess most look behind their shoulders all their time knowing someone isnt following them yet.
