That sounds like maybe spyware? Can you format and re-install O/S?

I'd run spybot S&D and ad-aware first, may need to use hijackthis for some tougher things (just be careful with it). Most spyware can be cleaned out without a reformat.

I ran spybot ad-aware and my McAfee virus scan. The only one that I knew about McAfee found but couldn't get rid of. It was web-hancer. I downloaded pc tools's spyware doctor and a-hem regestered it and it took care of it.

Then my comcast was down over the weekend because of an audit and my line wasn't marked so they thought I was stealing cable so they disconnected me! Got it turned back on today and closed over 4k today.

Geez, glad you got it all figured out. Long haul there. Hey look at the bright side, EOC was down over the weekend so at least your sig wasn't there to remind of the issues

if it's failing over and over, I usually trash it and get a fresh one. delete work folder, queue.dat, and unitinfo.txt...

but if it's just stuck, reboot to restart the client.. and see if you can finish it...

honestly though, if it's been eue'ing or erroring at the same % over and over and starting over from initial work packet, trash it. delete those 3 files and it'll erase it, so it won't just keep starting from initial work packet over and over..

you can report the wu at fah with your logs if you want, http://foldingforum.org/viewforum.ph...60c51052360161 but they usually just repeat what I said above...

I restarted the clients. The one that was 46% started back up. The one that was 98% completed went past the deadline.

In the summer heat make sure they aren't running too warm. Increased temps can lead to goofy things.

The summer heat is a killer here lol. I've been shutting 2 Q6600's off during the day, my little AC just can't keep it cool in here with them on.

The next 10 days should be alright for 24/7 use tho, only 3 days that it will be 80f-90f+.

Sounds like you need an AC upgrade. The AC at my apartment is set to 75 and has been able to keep up OK. Are you using a window AC unit?

Boy have I ever got the same problem. It's been over 100f for 5 days straight. And with 5 computers in the same room, it's just too much for the central air to handle... global climate change is tickin me off.

Yes I'm using a window unit(very small 8k BTU). We just bought this house last fall and haven't had too much time to do anything but fix what needed fixing. Theres still much more too. Plus my father-in-law is running for district judge so theres tons of political/public stuff that I have to do.

Maybe after the Nov. elections I'll be able to install some central air....Hopefully....

yeah, my dedicated folder is crapping out. I'm not sure if it is rebooting, or the SMP clients are simply closing. Not seeing anything in the error logs. Does anyone know that command to see how long windows has been running (i.e., time since last reboot)?

when I have shutdown probs, I can usually find them in event viewer with timestamps.. it'll showup as "unexpected shutdown"..

you can also check task mgr in vista, and it'll display uptime...

but for xp, you can open a cmd window and type:
    "net statistics server"
and the very first line will display a date and time the system came back up, so you'll know when it was rebooted basically..

I'll try that next time I see the problem.
The high pressure finally let go last night and a cold front moved through Virginia - so we cooled down to the low ninties!

OK, the team output is going up!!!
WAY TO GO GUYS! I think if we can recruit all of our NV users to run the GPU2 client, we'll see our daily output surge above 200k!

Everyone keep up the great work and tell a friend!!

    Hehe sounds like a plan

I just got fold8 up and running, my PC is going to be on a borrowed phenom 9600BE that looks to be good at around 2.8GHz or so (perhaps less for 24/7 load usage) until I can get AMD to finally replace my chip as I have confirmed that yes it has issues. Hoping my output to ramp upward finally

Believe me, with all the trouble I've had and with the possibility of getting a q6600 from ebay for cheap and breaking even after selling my stuff (after CPU replacement that is) it is very tempting. And this is coming from a die hard AMD guy!

Gotta call AMD again and get them to take this bad X4 back and replace it this time.

    *edit* I can't believe what I just did... I actually bought a q6600 G0.... what's happening to me...

Heh I can't get more than one, after all, once I get this nuisance phenom replaced finally I should be able to sell it and my board for enough to cover most of the cost of the switch if not all of it (I got a really good deal on the CPU).

I just got my tax returns, but most was spend before it got in. I bought the cheapest 22'' lcd I could find ( 180e ) and a 9600GT to power it and that's it to. Ow and my gf gave me a new camera, also entry level nut allot better then our old one, Kodak Z710. Small things, new dvd burner ect but nothing I can say I specificly bought for folding. Even couldn't stretch to a 4850 which I know smokes the 9600gt in anything. But atleast I just found out my gpu can fold to lol, just installed the cuda drivers since I was stuck at 60 ops/second and when I wake up tomorrow I'll reboot the rig and try running the gpu client with the smp.
