So is there any difference between a 4870 in Crossfire and a 4870x2?

HD 4850 delayed to June 25th, 4870 to an unknown date
http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.a...tno=550&pgno=0
It was already set for June 25th but how recent is that 4870 info? Both are being launched same day, last I heard, but 4870 will be in much more limited quantities
What specific area do you find at fault?
Your previous posts were citing weak AA performance not TMU deficiencies.
If you care to explain your reasoning more perhaps people wouldnt disagree with your assertions, but you are not going into very much detail.
edit: Are you talking about it needing more TFUs so that TAU:TFU is 1:1? This would double AF perf even though tmu count would technically stay the same.

Actually, I had a different line of thought, but you are heading in the right direction. Your edit at least shows that increasing the number of TMUs doesn't nessecarily solve the problem. Thier make-up and ability can make all the difference inthe world..that is more the point I was trying to make.
Anyway, far too OT, we'll find out how the new gpus are in a couple of weeks. When the real data is out we can debate their usefullness.

anybody else think those framerates are pretty poor? for a game that is poorly coded anyway, i mean Crysis will probably run well now at 1024 x 768 and a little above that without the FPS dropping too low.. but its still gonna be full of jaggies as the performance would drop too much with some AA
hell i dont even see the point in these cards now if they are so poorly performing in a game like this also, because its the only reason people are going to buy the cardssince everything else runs fast..
Think ill stick to my 8800 GT's a little longer.
AliG you just put your foot in your mouth bro! Poorly coded = doesnt take advantage of vendor specific optimizations at a driver level... Drivers to a point make the hardware do they not? And as such drivers can optimize hardware per application if the software allows for it... Which Crysis does not, probably by design... Perhaps its the "one" to sell them all! OMG maybe its a conspiracy!!!
Either way bring on the horsepower that is 4870! I'm addicted to AA as of late, whether its better or worse on ATI i don't care, all i know its its beautiful and I would welcome a new monster to run it that does it faster and more efficiently. Green is good!!

@ "GoldenTiger" In a world of 20 graphic card vendors i might buy your statement but in reality theres only 2 that matter atm and as such i think my statement is applicable. These programmers know what there up against mate! Its common knowledge that the actual hardware itself isn't changing much with every cycle. I think your overlooking the interest of selling hardware perhaps!!! BUT HEY call me a conspiratist! I'll wear the hat, i dont mind. I do it everyday! Not every one conforms to sheepdom thank goodness!

@ GoldenTiger , Sad ending to what could have been a road to "wisdom" even if i were to have gained the most. Thanks for sharing your infinite abundance.

Question I never used a ATI card before only Nvidia. In the past I see the new ATI cards come out but really lack DRIVER support. Like you can not play certain games etc... Why is that? I am sure it is very hard to program, but why doesn't Nvidia have this problem? I am looking forward on the 4870 X2 card, I am sure like the rest of us..
