Flashed to latest beta bios form DFI´s page, and I´m playing with it know. Still no suport for half multipers with my E7200! How much NB voltage does you need for 600mhz 5-5-5-X? I´m having trobble with high mem speeds and CL5... Anyone else? Or I´m I dumb for asking?

can anyone help me maximise the memory performance from this board
currently not as good as the maximus formula it is replacing

and here is the DFI x48

ive left everything on default for the memory as im not that experienced in the finer memory settings on this board

can anyone help me bring it up?

ram is Crucial Ballistix PC8500 tracer (old doublesided set)

    thanks

Can anyone tell me what they generally run their tRFC at with 4gb kits? I'm using the G.Skill 2x2gb kit now and am having trouble getting stability and have a feeling it's due to tRFC...from CPU-Z, the SPD reading said 48..but should it be higher?...I had no trouble using my 4gb kits on my Asus P35 board...but with DFI, I can't get it stable at all.

Try 52 for the TRFC and go up to 55 if needed but 52 should do it. May need to up the NB voltage a tad too, depending on what you have set presently.

i agree with Larry here, 52-55 should be optimal for 4gig kits. 55 would probably be a good starting point then work down. also, on a 2gig kit, 55 is necessary *for me at least* to hit 1200. after that the ram starts to become unstable though i havent messed with fine delays yet to push it a bit harder.

    @ BadNizzie

how do you not have half multi's on E7200. i have a E7200 and have had half multi's since i got the board w/ factory bios. just enable CPU N/2 Ratio and you have half muti. 1200mhz on ram i use 2.35v *max rated for my ram. it will not boot unless i set TRFC to 48+ i get 100% at 55. 333 strap, 500fsb, pl8 all pull ins enabled.

you can do 450fsb, 400 strap, 1200mhz ram on pl7 w/ all pull ins enabled as well, though your write and copy will not be as good.

man, i swear im the only one on this forum using the hp2-pc8500 kit from mushkin...

Got my board and playing around with how I'm going to step up the cooling a little.

First off, I fabricated my own two heat pipe transpiper from an old HR-05:

I had a couple of old Thermalright HR-05 SLI's lying around from my 680i chipsets before I went to water with them, so I started pondering how I could convert one into my own home brew transpiper.

For starters the base for the HR-05 is too wide. At a minimum you would need to sand off or cut off the extra width and then drill and tap a hole in center of the HR-05 and drill/tap a 4-40 hole in the DFI PWM sink.

    I did just that

and since I had the mill I went a step further and cut down a flush slot in the DFI sink so I'd get full contact on the base.

Turned out pretty good I think, now I'll have a little more cooling and no more tubing clutter from yet another waterblock. I also have an ultra low speed 80mm fan I mounted to the HR-05....I think this will work.

Here is the slot I milled out in the stock heat sink to provide full contact.

And here is a comparison with the stock HR-05 SLI base, I had to cut off about 2.5mm on each side.

You could do this mod yourself if you happen to already have one of these sinks lying around. You could just use a belt sander to take the sides down, then drill and tap the hole in the center, there's probably plenty of contact bridging over the heatpipe slot for the stock transpiper.

Cool little project, I'm already enjoying the board that much more now that I have something custom on there..

The stock transpiper just has a single heatpipe...this has two..

Picture of the stock PWM paste mess that was left behind...I think they use "Enough"..

    After cleaning up:

Also qdemn7 from the liquid forum spent some time measuring hotter chips on the board, I thought this was great info to share for some potential chips you might consider putting some small heatsinks on:

After 2 hours of running Prime 95 v25.6 build 6, at stock settings, system below I get the following results:

The 3 chips outllined in red are the hottest. They are running around 47-51C.
The 3 chips outlined in yellow are next, they running at 43-45C.
The main heatsink for the mosfets above the CPU is running34-36C.
None of the rest of the chips on the board get above 40C.
    Ambient temp is 26C.

This is sitting out in the open on a Top Deck Tech Station.

hey martin, thanks for the pics
I'm not sure if you fired the board up already but make sure you get some cooling for this EXACT area as well.
It gets BURNING hot.. also theres probably no need for a fan on the HR. The blank sink does a great job already..
I also put my finger on the spots that you designated on the picture with the red squares
it really doesn't get hot at all, no need to even sink them... and this is while i'm going through a NYC heatwave..

    this is what I did

From those pictures... those two long chips - are they FETS? What do they do? It looks like they are not cooled normally by the heat sink back there. Ill have to put some on when I get my board. Times like these I wish I had a laser gun for temp readings.

Those are the Digital Power Chips and they will get VERY hot on Quads but on Dualies they are much calmer...

They are designed to endure very high temps AFAIK...
