Can't help you with a Winflash tool Msimax... I always use a bootable flash drive.

Has anyone managed to get 1066 ram to run on this board using the 1066 setting? The only way I can get it to run is to set it at 800 then OC the HT Ref clock to 266. This seems to work OK, but it limits the combinations I can get If I could actually use the 1066 setting...

I was just curious, seems odd that I can OC it up to 1066, but can't even boot into windows when it's set to 1066 in bios (It will post/but not boot)..

You will have to manually set the ram timings in the bios.

But I did set all the basic settings according to the EPP profile ex: 5-5-5-15-22 @ 2.1v.... Still a no go, when I try to run in 1066 mode.

It just seems strange that I can clock it up to that speed but can't set that as default mode.

I'm currently running Bios 1.1B3, but I had the same problem when using 1.4 relase version..

Mine works in 1067 ganged/unganged mode, with 2 kits (the only ones I got)
Tracers 8500 and 2x2048 Balistix 6400 regular both at 2.2V.
    Using 1.4 Bios

    EDIT**

IT might set RAM to 1t by default in your BIOS
or timing(s) to tight if set on AUTO

He left the forum for some unknown reason. There's a thread he used to ask the mods to delete his account in the first section. I'll post the link.

I am defiantly no expert in RAM timings either, just posting what someone else posted previously . One thing that they also stated was to set the timings at 5-5-5-15 (if that is your timings anyway)and set everything else auto. That turned out to be my problem anyway.

    you!

Not many people (that I know) have the 9550 and pretty sure that my k9a2
had 1.3 bios when I bought it (about 1.5 month ago)

you wont notice any gain really. i have 2 3870's and the benchmark is really not different. only thing you will be able to tell thats different is gaming. you will get higher fps at higher resolutions then other cards like the 8800gt's.

it gets ~5fps @ 1280x1024 all high DX9 better in crysis 1 card vs 2 so i guess it is "enabled" but is that really all i will get or just crysis's coding

I noticed there is a 1.53 Beta bios on the MSI (German) Forum.

Just curious if anyone has tried it out, or has any opinions on it?

Unfortunately I don't speak/read German, not even sure if it's
for the V1 or V2 board...

Any help from any of our German members? Achim...

thats really dosen't seem right do you have AA& AF off ?

I had one 3870 that can play it pretty good in dx10 on very highthe MSI 3870.
I just put in a Saphhire 3870 & in the third slot it seem to be stuck in x8 mode in even when I change to 2.0 mode it's still 8x not 16x.
My msi 3870 is in 16 x @ 2.0. the second slot doesn't seem be working right with the saphhire card the MSI card works in it though. maybe I'll have to turn off all the pci express 2.0 in the bios first.
or anything else I missed in the bios.

Do any of you guys know full details about the AMD OverDrive turbo button? I know that switching it from solid green to yellow or red improves performance, but what does the button do?
From my light testing, turning it to red mode gives me a 1,000+ point boost in 3DMark06 and 2 fps in Crysis, the downside is a 5-6C jump in temperature on the CPU. Even sitting idle it shows a increase in temp just by toggling the button. Does anyone know what it actually does to improve performance? It's not the TLB fix in my case as I'm running XP64 and bios version 1.13beta bios. I'm not a big fan of enabling AMD OverDrive on boot up because it causes my system to crash/hang. I wouldn't mind knowing what the turbo button does though. It obviously improves performance.

Batmang:I can't say I can give you the "Full Details", but I seem to remember someone I trusted (KTE?) saying that the button did this.

    Green: TLB Patch Enabled
    Yellow: TLB Patch Disabled
Red: TLB Patch Disabled and System Tweaks turned on (HPET) etc...

I haven't really done any testing with it myself, the ring is usually Red whenever I open AOD though...

    You've got me curious now...
I'll try turning it yellow and running 3D06 and get back with ya.
+1000 points seems like an awful lot!!

    After some brief testing...

    Clickable:

Actually, after I opening AOD I realized it opened with the ring Yellow. I changed it to red and it resulted in a ~100 point increase in 3D06.

The good thing was it got me pretty close to my best 3D06 score ever (12089).. I got that score at 2.86Mhz which turned out not to be stable at stock V's..

My core temps did go up 1.5c when I changed to Red which is not a big deal I have a really nice HSF on here now....

Just thought I'd share my results.

The circle is irrelevant for any B3 model, including ,but not limited to
    Phenom 9850BE.
Green =TLB Patch ON(TLB caching off)=reduced (to put it mildly)memory/cache performance
Yellow=Recomended (for MSI K9A2) by KTE (I think)
Red=Max performance, TLB caching ON (TLB bug fix off)

Use green only if you're running "virtual machines" in windows
What it actually does? It changes register values for the (4) cpu cores.

BTW my K9A2 had a funny burning smell, then wouldn't boot and after
spending hours I noticed that 1 of the "little squares" (mosfet?) right under
    "Circu Pipe" is fried.

The 1.4 BIOS where I set the Vcore to 1.400 was giving 1.678
to my "low power" X2 5000BE
I had a 9600be phenom in it before and when I put the X2 in it the HT multy
did not go down to x5 like it should.
It stayed @ Phenom values (up to 13?)
When I did have phenom it the so called HT multy (from above) was actually
NB multy, so setting that would change NB for the Phenom and not HT.
NBvid is actually NBcore (1.1v) default so setting it to 1.350 (for a
milld NB OC) might fry the NBcore (chipset).

Luckily I had a water cooler on the 5000BE so it's fine but the damn
    board is in "coma"

Now your scaring me man.. Just when I was in the middle of a pretty sucessful drunken OC..

OUCH.. , sorry to hear that bro!... The good news for me is, I don't even have an AM2 X2, I'm running the 1.1B3 Bios, and I've never seen weird overvolts like that.... Definetly something to keep a lookout for though...

Socketman, is that one of the first revisions or a later one.

I thought MSI quite fixed the issue, if this is about a later one then.

KTE asked me to post his last success report with the msi here.
Grrr, my new MSI board is dead!

1.45v under regular use after 1 week killed it.

Please drop a line in the MSI thread at XS when you can saying I killed two
MSI boards inside 4 weeks with 1.448v load using 9850 so stay well away from
it! I was using BIOS 1.53 beta. Thanks man.

    Tye
