I don't think you understand what extreme is though, extreme generally means pushing it unnecessarily further than other people, not being smart about your purchases, that's why it generally does cost lots of money to be extreme
extreme by itself doesn't mean anything, it's an adjective. in the world of computers, I'd say extreme implies extreme enthusiasm, which doesn't necessarily involve spending a ludicrous amount of money.
