The cold boot issue's a problem with some P5K board/RAM combinations, just wanted to be sure. Just doing my homework before buying. Thanks.

Mostly from what I've seen the issue is only when one tries to manually set TRFC. However, you can flash the SPD to set TRFC to 55 by default to allow for more overclocking headroom.

Get the bios from G.Skill Technician, and flash with SPDTool (found at TechPowerUp!).

I picked some of these up about a week ago at the Egg for $85 shipped. Currently have it OC at 1026. It enabled me to be able to drop my multi to 8 and run over 500 fsb

I have not tried to find max overclock/latency with this yet but it is good stuff for the price

Thanks to everyone in the thread for the info. Thinking about trading my XMS2 for these.

I PMed euonline this message, but perhaps some of you can help out too:

"euonline, Do you think you could email me your screenshot? The link just goes to imageshack, and I'd like to look over your timings carefully.

I have an e8400 with an abit IP35-pro mobo (and obv same mem chips). I cannot seem to get the memory stable with anything useful above 450Mhz.

Right now I am running my CPU @ 9*450, and I want to use the 5:6 strap (540Mhz), but I just can't get it stable. I tried setting it to 5-5-5-15-52-2T @ 2.2v, but got 8 errors over an 8hr memtest run. All the subs were set to auto. I'm hoping that by fine tuning my subs (which i have very little exp with), i can get my ram more stable and get a bit more out of it.

If I can get that to go well, then maybe I can try pushing my CPU a bit more (with diff multis as well).

BTW, do you know if MCH voltage affects memory overclock as well (directly), or just whether or not your mobo is stable at your FSB?

What test do you use to test mobo FSB stability? Obv you'd want to set your cpu multi all the way down and your ram at 1:1 for testing, but what program? ORTHOS mix? ORTHOS blend? Something else?

Thank you much for your help!"

Much! Keep tightening those timings (and testing with your favorite RAM stability tester).

On another note, anyone have any idea how much voltage is safe to push to these sticks? I'm trying to push my FSB/RAM OC to the limit (have to use 1:1 ratio due to already high FSB for CPU OC), and I'm afraid to go over 2.2v for regular use. Is 2.2v safe, and if so, can I go any higher?

Also, it looks like you guys have higher tREF, but it dosn't seem that I can edit this in my BIOS, and MEMSET doesn't let me change anything!

Right now the highest I can get (using any ratio) is 536 (or DDR2 1072). I'd like, to get to 540 or higher, since I KNOW my E8400 will do 4.05GHz, but I want to see if it'll go any higher.

    Right now = 7.5 x 536 = 4.02GHz

Here are the relevant voltages (I haven't tried to get these down at all yet, if possible):
    DDR2: 2.2v
    DDR2 Ref: +2%
    MCH: 1.48v
    ICHIO: 1.6v
    ICH: 1.09

EnJoy - I'm hoping you especially can help me out regarding RAM & mobo voltages, since you have the abit IP35 Pro as well.

Here is my current OC with timings... I'd like to push this further:

My G.Skill sticks are overclocking duds, I cannot get them to 1066 no matter what I do, but I think setting Performance Level 4 makes up for the loss.

Currently at VMCH at 1.55, VDIMM at 2.15V. Still testing stability. VDIMM 2.10 failed Linpack, so now trying 2.15.

Well nope, 2.15V still fails Linpack. I am going to bump VMCH to 1.7V and see if that improves. Do other people have suggestions regarding tRD and which voltages?

Have you tried if you can push them to 1066 when setting a relaxed Performance Level ( 6+, don't know a specific number, never used a P35 ) and a tRFC of 55 or higher?
tRFC is the most important timing for these 4GB kits.

I set the PL as loose as possible, VDIMM 2.2V, tRFC 60+.
What happens is the BIOS boots extremely slowly, crashes, claims its corrupt and starts the BIOS recovery, or if it manages to boot fine, Memtest will report errors.

I am happy with DDR2-1000 though, so now I am just working on tweaking so it is stable at extremely tight timings. I read on some earlier pages someone was more stable at 5-5-5-12, so I'm trying that right now.

TRFC 60 is overkill, it should not need to be that loose on most boards. 55 should be plenty.

As for voltages, you also should not need to pump vMCHthrough the roof, unless you're dead set on maintaining a tight tRD / PL while running a relatively high FSB. In addition, watch your vDIMM and keep them cool. No need to be pumping 2.2v+ into these chips; they don't need it and they don't want it.

Works fine here for months on the P5 DLx... no worries there even at 1066Mhz rig always posts !!! nice feature now with latest 2 biosses is the added TRFC option to set eg 55... but apparently those biosses suck with 65nm CPU's...
Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved

Remark : They call me Pro Asus Saaya yupp, I agree

Didn't test for stability; it was a quick test. I wanted how fast 4x2GB would run 1:1 at 533 fsb. I switched back to quad after that.

Does anyone think that these could handle 4-4-4-10 @ 1000mhz?
    I'm at 5-5-5-12 @ 1000mhz now.
