How does CoolIT freezone etc compare to water?

Hi, over at nvidia forums, there are several members who are using CoolIT Freezone and Boreas, and I was just wondering how these compared to a normal watercooling setup with a 360 rad?
I was thinking that the watercoling would be better. but i dont know....

    Thanks

No one can answer your question intelligently unless you specify what you plan to do with the system. Are you planning on doing massive over-clocking? Do you want a moderate OC and use it mainly for gaming? What would your loop contain?

ask this question in the TEC section on XS. As its a TEC product. OR you can try in the chilled H2O however they'll probably flame you there.

But cliff notes, It sucks, and you'll be horribly dissapointed. Your very limited for the price tag.

Hey, I was against the CoolIT, i was recomending them to use a normal watercooling loop, one of the guys was at 4.3 with a QX9650, and was moving off of the boreas onto a rotary phase system for his CPU, i saw someone else, although not no that forum, who claimed to have minus temps with the freezone (although he had, 'modified' it :P), which i found hard to believe....
One was using a coolit on the CPU only, and someone was moving his onto the GPU (the guy using the rotary phase on his CPU)
Im never gonna buy that, or any TEC product, in a couple of months i am going to build my first computer, with watercooling, using the XSPC either edge or X20 bloack, a D5 vario, XSPC 36rad, and probably some scythe fans as they give a much better CFM/db than the yates, although, im not sure what kindd of CFM i would need with the XSPC rad, i know withe the black ice ones you need quite high, but anyway, for that system i will be overclockiing the Q6600, although not for 24/7 usage, infact it wont be on 24/7, as i think its bad for the environment..... However i will be benching at 3.6, and maybe go for 4.....
I was basing my info on an article in the latest CustomPC, where they used a tuniq tower, which kept the CPU 1 degree lower than its thermal cutoff point, and then compared loads of watercoling kits and custom setups, the XSPC custom loop, with NB, GPU, and CPU in cooled it 15 degrees lower than the Tuniq, while the CoolIT freezone elite only manjaged 3 degrees lower, while still costing over £200, and only cooling the CPU

Thanks for the info, and sorry about the misunderstanding.

Don't even try to compare a yate-loon to a scythe x-flex fan (Which is what I'm assuming your speaking in reference to) The yate-loon's cannot be beat for the price. You pay the same amount for 4 yate's as one scythe x-flex.

And yeah they have amazing bearing and performance but they aren't in the same league as each other.

Ah, but i wasnt i was talking about these: http://specialtech.co.uk/spshop/cust...cat=527&page=1
I was going to go for the Yate loons, but the quiet one is quiet a bit worse than that, being louder and puching quite a lot less air, also, im going to be using the IFX-14 as a temp, and me and a friend are gonna try to get a Q6600 or two to 4ghz on air, which should be fun, considering neither of us have overclocked a lot before,
But, if i were to go for the Yates, as they are cheaper, which one would be best? The low or medium? (As sound, while coming second to performance, is still an issue, and i presume that the high is quite loud.....
DO you know if this is any good?

I am running a coolit Freezone Elite, I did have the Eliminator a few weeks ago.
I'm only using it to cool my CPU and then using a pa 120.2 to cool my two GTX's. It's not nearly as loud as the eliminator was but it makes a little noise on the highest setting via thermal control panel, which regulates the fan speed etc according to the activity of your CPU.

My temps on idle are 13 degrees celcius on a Quad 2.4 Stock. I think they look very cool and helps if you don't have the space in your case or the tools to mod it. In other words, I love mine!

you could pull that off with a 65W TEC and a good old fashion alu heat sink with a great fan.

You wouldnt need to go that far for great temps on a mobile chip. :T

Trust me im building a system which uses 2 yonah classes. But there going to be cooled via passive on an HR-05

They are indeed very loud because the rear fan is quite powerful. But I believe they to have a High, medium, low setting though.

The newest Freezone Elite though is ESA enabled so that is at least one nifty feature about it.

Btw, they say that the yates not from petras arent that brilliant, and mine wont be from petras, so, would the Scythe be better?
And does anyone have any expieriance with this fan?

I've owned the original Freezone, and it's OK for overclocking dual cores -- not so much for quad-cores if you are going for a high overclock. For $300, you can do better with a custom WC setup, imho, but it will be more work than the Freezone, but well worth it for performance and know-how. It didn't keep up with a QX6700 at 2.9GHz running prime95 on 4 cores. However, it *may* be able to handle the 45nm quad cores -- that's a big maybe though.

Here's an estimate of costs (without shipping/tax) for a high-end wc setup (over 300, but the performace/price ratio is much better, imho):

    $130 (wow it used to be $100 ...) PA120.3
    $60 pump (ballpark, i don't know whats good nowadays -- i have a vario 655)
$80 waterblock (fuzion + nozzle pack + pro mount)
$100 res (XSPC Laing DDC Reservoir Pump FTW!!!) misc tube fittings (i'd go 3/8 if i had to start over, currently 1/2)
    $20 some yate loons!

here's a great place to continue ur research:

i have a coolit eliminator and i modded it. i took the pump off and added bigger hose. then i used my thermaltake p500 pump and res but i think i need to change it to be after the coolit so i have more cold fluid and i think i will hold loads better. i also put my gpu in the loop and if yo look at my sig you can see it holds temps pretty well for what i have. i like it and thats my opinion and others hate it and thats theres

its a mess all dusty and crap i havent been on it a lot so not a lot of cleaning going on plus its very dusty here in this apt. i also unplugged the light and its on hi. thinkin about tryin more or less volts to the tecs just to see what would happen. anybody know what volts these run at on hi? just a few quick pics
