    ***UPDATE UNTIL #78***

    Latest version:

    Dear Futuremark-Team,

as a beginning we hope to attract your full attention to the following lines. We think it's not too excessive to affirm that many enthusiasts, gamers and ordinary pc users were all on edge for the latest 3DMark. But also a lot of people agree with the meaning that the new pricing of 3DMark Vantage doesn't fit. The Basic and Advanced Version do not have all the Features the fans expected. Potential User have to spent $ 6,95 + Vat for the Basic and $ 19,95 + Vat for the Advanced-Edition. But they had to pinpoint that it is not possible to see the benchmark results and also not to save them offline. This causes that Basic and Advanced Version don't fit to a large part of the potential users. The best version for enthusiast users would be the Professional Version of 3D Mark Vantage which is unfortunately the most expensive an unaffordable Version. Needless to say that the 3D Mark Vantage was not a low budget production and has to leave some ammount of profit for your company. But we might think that only a small group of Users would pay over $500 to get a fully working bechmark tool that includes all key features they expect. The next point is that a respectable number of customers have huge problems to run 3DMark Vantage. Freezes and projection failures during the Benchmark let pop off all the fun with that benchmark. It seems that the 3D Mark Vantage is not completely finished yet.
These are the facts why some users from one of the biggest overclocking communitys in Europe - the AwardFabrik - started a petition to demand some major changes on the current situation. In this context the Awardfabrik and some other german and international communitys started to collect signatures to stimulate the Futuremark team to arrange changes in spoken facts. In this way almost 300 users gave their signature in the first three days. You can see the results of this campaign in the lines attached.
We hope that this campaign is able to open your eyes noticing that this isn't the right way to keep a more and more important community growing. Our greatest whishes are:

    - Basic and Advanced Version of 3DMark Vantage need to show results and save validation files offline (validation files can be uploaded on any sytem)
    - General bugfixing and improvements in the general functionality of the program

Thank you for your attention and we are looking forward to your response.

    Regards

    Hi Michael, et all,

Just a quick note that we have received your email. I'm not sure if you have noticed, but we have already semi-officially announced that we are rolling in a hotfix for 3DMark Vantage,

    http://www.yougamers.com/news/18613_...tfix_incoming/

which is in direct response to feedback similar to that which you have listed. The exact date by which this hotfix will be released or the exact details of what will be changed are not available yet, but I wanted to just confirm to you and the overclocking community at large that your feedback has been heard loud and clear.

Sounds good to me, waiting for Hotfix...

They still need to make it where you can run it more than once on the "free version". I don't think it's our problem that it costs them extra time to develop this software for Vista. They need to go and cry to M$ IMHO.

i still don't know what "extra time" they mean. i mean, if they plan to release a benchmark for dx10, they have to develop it for the dx10 platform - which indeed IS vista.

what did they expect? i don't get it

I can't read FM forums, nor can I post a comment in the news section. Probably for the best, I don't like sucking up and as represented around the net FM isn't doing themselfs any favours lately. It was fun reading SnW's comments and Langaleers responce, reminds me of old times

I haven't experienced any crashing or problems with the actual benchmark other than having to enter my serial for Advanced a few times before it registered. I agree that we should be able to see our scores offline and have one thing to add that I didn't see from anyone else. I use 3DMark as a stress test and diagnostic utility when I am working on customer's computers and my own. There is no loop in Vantage like I have with Advanced 06. I will loop 3DM for video stress tests and Vantage only has a 3 time loop. Sometimes that isn't enough to bring a flaw out. I would like to add loop to the list.

I think that many have prefered the keygen route to make it work. I'll spend money if they release a non-crippled version for offline users.

WoW...I had no idea that people were this upset over the new benchmark...I was planning on buying it but wanted to wait at least 2-3 months to get more feedback from users....the problem with the enthusiast community is that most people just run out and buy software like this as soon as it's released...Futuremark has probably already made a ton of money and that's why they may just not do a damn thing....we should all wait before buying new software so that we are aware of such pitfalls...that will also keep these companies in check because they won't see such huige profits so early.

This reminds me of summer blockbusters that suck...no refunds for bad movies either.

We all blindly bought it because up until this point Futuremark as been a reliable option for our benchmarking needs and has given us the tools necessary to evaluate our performance while not have to jump through their hoops to get any useful info.

If any prospective developer is reading this, now would be an excellent time to introduce a new 3D benchmark ;_

Do I need to edit that letter myself?
Still many problem's in that letter which have yet to be corrected.

Don't mean to get on anyone's case but aren't these problem's obvious to everyone else? Mostly just spelling and punctuation but obvious to me and I'm not an editor.

3D Vantage won't even work for me. That enter registration bug pretty much ruined it for me. 10-25 bucks from 20 million people seem's a bit steep for a freeking bench. Gigantic scam IMO.

Free game benches like Crysis are a better test than this type of bench anyway.
