Are the eVGA 780i's supposed to allow you to go up to 1.5v FSB? Because mine doesnt even show 1.5v for FSB, its limited to 1.4v
Mine shows 1.4v with bios version P04.
Mine was 1.4v with the shipping bios. P04 is the newest one that I know of.
Where are you seeing people with 1.5v?
Most of you guys with 780i are using Wolfdales , is anyone with a Q6600 getting over 450mhz yet ? Can you guys get to 4Ghz with this mobo and cpu ?

I can hit 4Ghz with Q9450. Im constantly over 450Mhz FSB with a quad.
Hmm, I see the first post.
Interesting. I didnt need those settings at all for a stable 3.2Ghz (400FSB) or 3.6Ghz (450FSB).
EDIT: In fact, Im at 3.8Ghz now, and am only at 1.3v FSB. My GTLref is at 40mv, so maybe that helps as those 2 numbers are associated. (gtl ref voltage is 67% of fsb).
ive hit a hardwall at 450 with mine.ive tested both a q6600 and q6700 on it and cant get past 450.it makes no sense.ive taken a couple of c2ds up to 535fsb 100% stable but quads are a whole different story.if i can crack this ill be sure to repost but im not getting my hopes up.

With all due respect, you should (re)read this thread then... I think you have it backwards.
Here is another thead that shows similar results (that arent X38/48 anyway). http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=182602

Im not keen enough to re-read 800+ posts but I will try ....

I know dual's are VERY easily getting over 500FSB. Mine was at 4.5Ghz. I find it hard to believe that me, a c2quad overclocking n00b, can easily pull of 450FSB (Im 475 stable, 500 benchable easily).
Like I said, I think its the memory (4GB people) that is giving them fits at 450FSB+.
You got a good quad CPU then mate..cherish it,... currently working on an E8400 that I hope has got good potential...till now 3.6ghz at 1.08volts... on the good old Striker Extreme 680i...
You think it's 4gb in general or 4 dimms limiting the OC ? the 780i I tested a few months ago (with SLI) the guy wants to upgrade to 4gb, curently running 450FSB with his Q6600 (8x) he got 2 x1 gb dimms of Gskil PC6400HZ... and wants to add another two...

Question : Why do some overclockers switch into d*ckmode when money is involved
Remark : They call me Pro AsusSaaya yupp, I agree
Thats the thing Leeg, the chip isnt cherry IMHO. 4Ghz comes at 1.4v with a lot of juice being pumped through this board (enough to make me not want to run it 24/7). I think yours is a little more cherry than mine @ 1.26v for 4Ghz!!!!
Its the amount of banks really. Anything over 4 banks seems to add a lot more stress to the NB which could be causing this issue. I have (ram in sig) and its double sided.
EDIT: Here is the link of a search within this thread for Q6600 and Q9450. You can see a few are hitting that point and past it.

I can't seem to get stable with my E8400 above 500 mhz fsb. I don't have a 1.5volt FSB voltage option. The maximum is 1.4volt with the latest P04 bios.

1.4FSB is the max most think is safe for 45nm CPU's, so no need ot push 1.5 or more ... maybe EVGA put in a fail safe setting now... secondly not many peeps run 8400's stable over 4.2 ghz mate so don't worry...maybe you got a lesser CPU, lesser board, lesser ram then some others here...
500FSB is already nice not ???
I will run mine at 450FSB with 9 multi , more than enough for daily usage...

500 mhz is nice but not good. I am trying to find out the maximum fsb of this cpu. Also I use vapochill and I think this E8400 should do 5ghz pretty easily with it. So I'd like to get the most fsb out of it or I will switch this board with something else.

Did you lower the multiplier and see what the board limitation is? I know I got 563 FSB on air with a screenshot (4.5Ghz).
Well like I said I couldn't make it stable above 500 mhz FSB. 563 mhz is nice. I wish I could have that.

Would this board make any difference compared to my DFI Lanparty 680i LT?
I got Q9300 lying around, pisses me off since i got very well going E6600 and would like to sell the Q9300 but nobody wants to buy a CPU with 7.5 multi.
So if it would make a difference should i hold up for my Q9300 or E6600?
Im not big fan of Quadcores anyway...
