Why do you insist finding an answer?
The SATA problems are well documented on early revisions, and you can't solve them. They concern all new WD and SAMSUNG SATA2 drives. Seagate and Hitashi are ok

Look at your serial number on the outside of box, if it is 77xxxx... format or before, you're stuck.
Only 78xxx and later are ok

I dont insist finding an answer, am I'm just desperately hoping :-P

But I got my striker extreme back from RMA, so that has to work for now. The P5K is going back to the shop.

Maybe I expressed it wrong (sorry for my english). I meant: you can't hope for a solution but RMA the board and ask the shop to give you back the money they stole (it is really a well known defect even if ASUS never officially recognised it, but on the other side, they accept RMA for that reason )

You're wrong. My board starts with a 76xxx serial, and has no SATA issues. I've run Seagates and Western Digital SATA 3.0 drives in multiple RAID configs, no problems.

    So, you're lucky
Many 77xxx boards are broken, but some were described ok. Most 66xx reported on ASUS forum are broken

I must be lucky too then cos mines a 76xx with mixed blue and red capacitors. Many users with earler revisions of the MB reported problems with RAID/AHCI but not all of them - There are still many others running okay with RAID - me being one of them
That said the MB that is the subject of this thread need to be RMA'd without a doubt - that issue isnt going to go away - so dont delay - back to asus it goes Dont take any crap from the vendor - I would also ask for the money back for previous test as they failed to advise you correctly. Asus will refund as it is a well known problem - except by the norwegian vendor it seems.!

I have a 78XX board and I am running into the same problems as well. Has anyone found RMAing the board to be of any help?

Actually my P5K premium has serial 76M0ACV0xxx & works fine with 4 x WD32000AAKS (B3) hdd's. I've only tried in RAID0 & not single drive. Getting pretty good speeds too. See below for results.
