The FAH site says there is plenty of work for GPU clients, wtf?
    Any ideas?

It isn't trying to use IE settings is it?

Sometimes Stanford gets a server glitch and that throws stuff off. Only thing you can really do is keep waiting in that case

Mine does that between work units occasionally however it normally fixes itself...

The other machines were having the same problem, but eventually "picked up"
some work.Guess the trouble here is the fact that GPU client needs the work server every hour, unlike CPU clients where it's more like once a day.
    ************************************************** *****
Another issue is this Crucial kit:which seem to be missing the Jedec spec
and also running in single channel only, giving "SPD byte 23 or 25 is missing on the boot up
Has anyone came across something similar? I know most people here have Intel
rigs and this might be an "AMD issue".

I might put it up in AMD forums later on- and see what happens

So my PC froze again, it seems to hate running cooler for some dumb reason? It cools off in the room (school finally turned the AC on yay, no more 80+ degree F room temps!) and th system has fits of freeze-ups. I've gotten tired of this, pulling my rig down (again ) and ripping the CPU out so I can give AMD a call tomorrow and get this thing sent in for replacement. Has to be the CPU, I already sent the board in, ram checks out fine, and the rest of the hardware is the same as when I had my old opteron. Sigh... this had better fix it or so help me I'll blow this thing to smithereens....

Hey Sparky, sorry for your troubles. I know you're an AMD loyal customer, (so was I) but it's time to surrender to the corporate giant, and get yourself a Q6600

Heh well I've spent the money on this stuff already anyway, so I'm not really out anything more (except a few bucks shipping and some time I guess) to send this one in and get a fully functional one. Switching would cost me more $$$$.

Who knows... I might get a B3 in return, that would be sweet.

    Sorry to hear that man,
could also be a "combination" of cpu/board/ram/bios/OS - Phenom is a "different beast", you that. Let us know if AMD is giving you some hard time, like saying: Well, thats
cause you overclocked it ! We'll send in our $10.000.000 man or just that many spam letters.

Overclock? You kid right? I haven't even gotten that far with it I prefer to get a fully stable system first before overclocking and this system hasn't been that at all.

Perhaps I should try flashing the bios first to a newer one, doubt that has anything to do with it though since others have had no issues with the 9600BE and this board.

No I didn't get around to pulling the CPU today, didn't feel like tearing down the system to get to it

I was "paraphrasing" someone who was dealing with DFI Europe (yes the DFI that posts their "over clocking" awards on their top page) and was told, that he "broke it" if he over clocked it
was trying to cheer you up , got an 9850 myself could be a full time job I know that.

    Edit*****
Do you have a link for the phenom system?(mobo/ram/psu/vga) Some boards like an MSI K9a2 turns on HPET under PCIe config (high precision /"event?"/ timing) by default and WinXP does not support it.
You never know could be one of those "meaningless" "little" settings that is making the mess.

Can also try running it at the lowest RAM setting possible (400ddr) to see if it stays stable.

Hey Socketman, as long as you'll keep having issues like this I'll be able to keep ahead off you the next year ( according to EOC stats atleast )

I'm thinking you should easilly outrun me when the gpu wu's get sorted properly, don't think I'll be adding much if something at all to what's folding now the coming year

    Anyway

Sparky gl with the phenom, neighbour of me bought a 9400 and is thinking it's better then what I got :S Sorry to sound like an Intel fan lol but actually atm I am a fan, always liked that which gave the best bang for buck.

I haven't mobilized all my sockets just yet
It's hard to (cpu) fold with AMD,all things concidered, Sparky is a brave brave man.
Nothing wrong with having a "blue-green" mix either.
The way it stands at the moment for every GPU you need a separate PC. Hopefully it will get to a point where people can run 4 gpu's on a QC.

Not directly relevant, but I do have a 4-GPU (soon to be 6) PC in my cluster. It has 2 QC CPU, though, so not quite the scenario you describe.
