I'm curious, what is the latest BIOS for the Rampage Formula? Official or Beta. I thought it was 0219 official, but I have seen references to newer ones?

True, there is a 0308 for a while now. Found here on the Asus Forum: http://vip.asus.com/forum/view.aspx?...age=1&count=37

But it's a bit shady and has an S3 suspend issue

I am thinking about getting this X48 Rampage Forumla board. First I wanted to go for DDR3, but price for good DDR3 bricks are just way to high for me.
So I am thinking about setup like this one>
    CORSAIR Dominator TWIN2X8500C5DF 2048MB, DDR2, 2x1GB(KIT), DHX, E.P.P, with FAN (TWIN2X2048-8500C5DF)
    INTEL E8500 C2D PROCESSOR 3.16G 6MB 1333MHZ FSB (EU80570PJ0876M)

I am just wondering how easy it will be to overclock E8500 to 9.5x425 4037.5mhz on this board?
And if I need to go for better memory like 1200mhz / PC9600. And what are the benefits if there is any?

    Thanks!
its a very similar controller so mine should work too.

I really got enough of my dfi running too hot and being too picky. Will try this board as soon as the TRUE arrives

Which size? I'm thinking of doing a similar thing.

Oh i mean at air. Do you feel the SB needs a special cooling or just played safe?

All I did was set the RAM to it's rated voltage, and that was that. Didn't miss with any of the timings or RAM-related settings. Now I am going to back down on all the volts until I am stable with the least possible voltages.
Cool I hope to achieve a similar result.
    Any update on lowering something?

BTW Guys found a Intel X48 chipset driver on the MSI website for the X48C Platinum.

You can download it here: http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?f...1&prod_no=1393

0401 has made official. Any improvements? They say it should improve memory compatibility.

Sorry, I got close to getting the memory stable at those speeds, but in the end they didn't want to cooperate. I have to settle for "only" DDR2 1083 with 8GB of RAM

I am using 0401 now. I don't see much change in my case.
Apparently I can boot at 4GHz a bit more easily but I need to use this rig now so I don't have time for long stability tests.
Just tried 1.42 FSB VTT at 3.8GHz but it failed on OCCT rapidly.

It's safe to upgrade to 0401 so: you will have at least the same overclocking results.

BTW: grats to those people reaching 3.8GHz with safe CPU/VTT voltages. I am jealous
And this Rampage gave me faith back in Asus. I was about to give up with all the bad P35 experiences.

Thank you Xelation for the X48 chipset drivers link !

I'm also using 0401 official, I don't notice much difference. Have not really tested yet though.
