    Anyone else using this GeIL PC6400C4 RAM? I'm currently running at 333MHz (1:1), 2.1V, 4-4-4-12, and I've read reports that it should be capable of 3-4-3-10 at those sort of speeds.

    Any thoughts? Thanks!

    Another update GRRRR....

    Even though its passing prime95, im finding that using windows programs that do alot of disk and database storing and processing, gives a blue screen.

    Just bumped the MCH to V1.675, seems to be steadier for the programs now, just remember this is with 8GB RAM installed DDR2-750 4-4-4-12 @ V2.00

    Still more testing needed but limited time.

    Overclock settings for 8GB RAM, Stable.

    *Update
    Mobo = 1500FSB
    FSB = V1.4
    MCH = V1.7
    RAM = V2.08 (Timings 4-4-4-12 1:1)

    Trying to fill the RAM with apps, even on vista64 is quite a task (crysis sandbox, vmare, office, adobe apps......)

    My thoughts exactly. I really want SSE4 and low-power. A Q9300 or Q9450 would be my choice, but Intell still doesn't list support. I'm not willing to pay for a DDR3 mainboard like BoneTrail 2 at this point; I think DDR3 isn't worth it.

    I'll probably wait until the absolute end of Q6600/6700 availability at retail, or until I can get a confirmed report of someone running one of the new quads. I'd also like Intel to update their compatibility charts; although people here have reported running E8400 and E8500 CPUs on this board, Intel lists it as incompatible, and to me that means not supported. I'm getting to be an old geek; I like my stability.

    I don't think that they will ever update thier compatibility charts. You see, if BX2 can run penryn 45nm quads, then what's the need for P35 at all?

    975x is capable of running Penryn dual-core and should be able to do quad; it's only dependent on VRM design and BIOS support.

    Admittedly, what with Intel not officially supporting 1333FSB on the chipset, you are likely right on the charts. I suppose what I'm waiting for is to find someone with a Q9300/9450 to test it on a 2831 bios board, since we already know it won't run on older BIOS revisions.

    I know it is but Intel will never support that. If they admit that, then there is no point in creation of P35

    I should have a Q9450 coming soon (from a hook up via Intel). When it arrives (<2wks), I'll be trying it first in my BA2. If it doesn't work, then I'm A) waiting for BT2 to drop a bit and biting on it, or B) grabbing a ~$100 P35 and waiting for BT2 to drop <$200.

    It might be, of course, that Intel will "support" it with a BIOS update, albeit unofficially (that is, not updating the CPU charts, and still stating that the CPU is unsupported). I only say this because there are reports, including this thread, of the E8400 and E8500 CPUs working, despite Intel's statements to the contrary.

    I'll be interested in seeing your findings, down8. After all, Intel has said "updated CPU support" in a number of their recent BIOS revisions; they just never say what that updated support includes.

    Indeed. but until we see someone actually detailing that E8*00 etc works preferably with screenshots and that xbx2 is able to OC with those cpu´s I´ll take those flimsy reports of E84-8500 cpus working on their xbx2 as mere rumors.

    Question

    Hi everybody,

    I am back with my problem. How can i go over FSB 345 MHz ?

    I use D975XBX2, Q6600 GO and Crucial Ballistic Tracer 2x1Gb PC2-6400.
    I use HWmonitor, Everest and Occt or CPUStressMT.

    The multi is 9x, and i can(t choose 6x, 7x, 8x,...

    I disable all watchdog, C1E (maintenance), E1ST, etc.

    My first settings, all by default: Ok with E1ST and OK without. vcore default.

    I set the timings DDR2 (5.5.5.18 or 5.5.5.15) and voltage 1,84v, and 2,04v. Ok.

    I run different tests with freq and ref DDR2: 266/533= 1:1, 266/667, 266/800, 333/667 (1:1), 333/800: all is ok. The DDR2 Crucial freq is going up 520/533 with FSB.

    I test also my best and lowest vcore, 1,28v and 9x345=3107 MHz @ 1.28v : ok

    Every change of voltage, i power down the board and wait 10"/20" and run.

    9x296, 9x305, 9x315, 9x325, 9x335 = all ok and default vcore.

    FSB 345, DDR2 266/800 5.5.5.15, vDDR2=2.20v fqDDR2=517 MHz, ratio 2:3 (266/800), vMCH and vFSB default, vcore=1,3250 by default: Test Ok.

    When i read vcore, i could see 1,27 under Everest. So in bios, i set the lowest i could, 1,28v and i run test:

    FSB 345, DDR2 266/800 5.5.5.15, vDDR2=2.20v fqDDR2=517 MHz, ratio 2:3 (266/800), vMCH and vFSB default, vcore=1,28v. Test Ok. ;-) T° is cold ~ 52-54°C (even if i can't go over 345, this setting is not so bad).

    ----------

    I imagine that over 3105MHz, default vcore (1,3250) can run without problem.

    New test: vCore= 1,3250v

    FSB 350, DDR2 266/800 5.5.5.18, vDDR2=2.20v fqDDR2=517 MHz, ratio 2:3 (266/800), vMCH and vFSB default, vcore=1,3250 by default: Test NOk.

    FSB 350, DDR2 266/533 5.5.5.18, vDDR2=2.20v fqDDR2=350 MHz, ratio 1:13 (266/800), vMCH and vFSB default, vcore=1,3250 by default: Test NOk.

    I test more than 350, may be... :
    FSB 360, DDR2 266/800 5.5.5.18, vDDR2=2.24v fqDDR2=540 MHz, ratio 2:3 (266/800), vMCH and vFSB default, vcore=1,3250 by default: Test NOk.

    so I increase the vcore
    1,40 (and power down...) test nok.
    1,45 (and power down...) test nok.
    1,50 (and power down...) test nok.

    I can't imagine that to go to 350MHz the board need 1,55 v !!!

    So i see FSB and MCH:

    I test separately vMCH +0,10, vMCH +0,15, after, vFSB +0,10, vFSB +0,15 and both +0,10 and after both +0,15: same problem.

    i set vMCH +0,15 and vFSB= +0,15v. Test not ok !

    ---------------

    It is not memory because i am under its frequence. But i test with GSkil PC2-8500: same issue.

    I use different bios and actuallyt the last 2831 is installed.

    Why can i not increase my fsb on this XBX2 ?

    I can't choose on my XBX2 and q6600 the multiplier. It is set "automatic" and 9x. I can't change. it is normal ? Bios 2831.

    I thought it was possible to choose 6x, 7x and 8x...

    I know that 10 or 11 or more isn't possible, but less, i am surprised.

    Thanks

    Change from Automatic to Manual, then you can manually change it.

    Are you doing the following procedure:
    Shut Down > Remove AC Cable > Discharge PSU/Mobo Powerdown > Set BIOS Failsafe Jumper > Insert AC Cable > Flip PSU Switch > Boot Back Up

    Then change critical settings hit F10 to save, repeat the above procedure to save settings in BIOS properly?

    I think that only Core 2 Extreme versions have option to change multiplier?

    so i was right, the multiplier can not be change on XBX2 with q6600. I mean, i can set 6x, for example. But with E1ST, it is ok.

    q6600/xbx2: i could set 9x345 without modify Vmch/Vfsb. Over 346, instability

    qx6700/xbx2: fsb max is under 345 and it depends on multiplier. Of course, i can go higher, with the multi=11 or 12... and lower fsb, and with less voltage...

    changing vFSB and vMCH: nothing different.

    10x336=3360 vcore up to 1,45v is not ok. But 11x315=3465 @1,4375v is ok.

    10x330=3300, 1,375v is ok but 9x350=3150 is not.

    May be the fsb max is 345/350 @ vFSB=1,25/vMCH=1,525 with q6600-G0 and 330/335 with Qx6700-B3.

    Possible ?

    which vFSB or vMCH do i increase before ? or both ?

    some tests are not concluant when i set vFSB=1,4 and vMCH=1,65
