New Cosmos S install (More Pics + More Detail + More Mods)

Hi all, a week ago I decided to get a bigger case. Ended up with a Cosmos S and I'm very happy with it. Here's some pics:

Quick question. Does anyone know an easy way to join two wires so I can get this stupid extension cable out of my case? pref don't want to strip back mb cable and solder it!

I think I will take out the spiderweb looking plastic behind mesh, so it is easier to see in. Or might just get some plexi and make a window.

Sorry. The cable comes with the cosmos case. It connects into the 24pin mb cable and then plugs into the socket on the mb. Three wires, a 12v, ground and a purple wire run off of it to top of case. I'm pretty sure it powers the touch sensitive button.

Nice build F9292. I just got my Cosmos S in last week, and took it out of the sack this weekend to give it a gander. Can you post some better lighted pics of your mobo and how you ran your wiring on the back? Also, I was interested in how loud yours is. I have a Stacker 830 that is so loud I can't use my speaker phone. It is also interesting to see your placement of the micro-res. I have an EK-250 Res sitting and from your pics looks like enough room to mount to the mobo base. Also, did you have any issues when running the cabling?

I was also noticing your decision to mount the pump on that bottom 120 fan opening. I was looking at mine and trying to decide what to do. Was there any reason you chose there as opposed to in the drive bay areas? Just wondering if you had anything I needed to look out for prior to finishing up this build.

The technical answer to this question is that it will work with all radiators that have a ~15mm space between each of the fan mounting points. Of course this doesn't really mean much to most of us, so with the help of Rob from WaterCoolingUK, we've come up with the following list.

    Compatible:
    HWLabs BlackIce GT Stealth III
    HWLabs BlackIce GT Xtreme III
    HWLabs BlackIce Pro III
    HWLabs BlackIce GT
    Watercool HTSF 360
    XSPC RS360
    XSPC R120-T
    Aquacomputer Airplex Evo
    Aquacomputer Airplex Pro
    Alphacool NexXxoS Pro III
    Magicool Aluminium 360
    Magicool Xtreme 360 Radiator
    Magicool Slim 360 Radiator

    Not Compatible:
    Thermochill PA120.3
    Swiftech MCR320 QP 360

Hi all. Thanks for replys. I really do love that case! The only real mod I made was to cut the top fan grill off. It was sitting right against the fans and producing some noise. It is a really quiet case, probably because I don't run that big ass side fan!

Here are some more detailed pics.

As you can see here, I cut the plastic grill off with side cutters. (Prob get my dremel onto it soon.

Swiftech Mirco Res Mounted on side with velcro. Looks good through window.

The pump I mounted onto the floor where there should be a fan. Did this because I'm not obsessed with having 1000 fans in my case. Also easy to remove.

All the cables go really neatly through the precut holes.

Anyone got a fix for this stupid cable yet?

These plastic zip tie things are great. Case comes with about 8 of them. Stick em where you want!

You could use these little guys to splice in that stupid cable. You can find them at any automotive store or department.

Sorry for the crappy link. I was having a hard time finding them on 3M's site.

Nice build but zip ties, worm drives, and clamps FTL!!! choose the right tubing and fittings and you do not need all that jibber jabber

They are the right size. Tubing isn't 1/2 inch, only 7/16, Very tight fit.
zip ties dont look as nasty as wormdrives. Better to be safe than sorry!

3/8 Tygon on 1/2 Fat boys = no clamps (in second pic . . in first pic I think it is 3/8 on 3/8)
3/8 Tygon on 3/8 Bitspower compression fittings = no clamps

I am not saying to not use them in your situation I am just giving advice for others to consider.

I was wondering this fit as well. I just got a Cosmos S and a MCR320 and it fits - I dont have pics yet but I will - also SSwilson I think at Hardware Canucks got a Swifty rad in the top just fine without a problem - apparently coolermaster did a small adjustment to allow the Swifty to fit after initial release - so it actually is only the PA that wont fit due to its unique fan spacing
