Yeah, besides that it uses lower Voltages... so that means equal Voltage like 125W TDP gives more clocks... Well, dont know actually. I think it should.

Thinking to save up for watercooling really, then just by this chip for 'n giggles, Phenoms aren't expensive anyway.

I have been waiting seems like forever to post on this thread. My account is finally working. Any who.. I have the K9A2 Platinum w/ 1.4bios. I had the 9600BE running 2.7ghz on this board Stable. Not that this is anything to get excited about. But I have found on my 9850 that the cores 2 & 3 set to 2.9ghz, I can crank cores 0 & 1 to 3.3ghz. Weird thing.. if I thow more then 1.43v core.. My system crashes. I have a couple screen shot that I threw together a few weeks ago. http://3800z24.info/Phenom I use the Freezer 64 Pro to cool it. I need to go back and read pn this thread.. lot of post have been made since I created my acount.

They both [95/125] use different maximum core current supply.

    Great for you
Your "sad cinebench score" will be over 12000 if you were in a 64bit OS.
    i.e. http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/200...550_b3_cpus/13

Phenom 64b Cinebench is more impressive than is being passed on.

I am running 32bit Vista and 32 bit XP. I have 64bit xp, but it wouldn't load.. My 3DMark 06 score was higher in vista then xp. I might try to load the 64 it tonight and see how it goes.

Seen all the fun you guys have been having here and could not resist

got a ASUS M3A32-MVP Deluxe AM2+/AM2 AMD 790FX now what bothers me here is that i havent seen anyone really using this board. I see alot of DFI but ive always had bad luck with that 3 DFI boards ive bought. So we will see how this works out. Also paired it up with a 9850 and a Zerotherm Nirvana 120 to cool it. Also go 4 gigs of OCZ Reaper <3 OCZ.

Anyways ill be getting this stuff on tuesday and ill throw it into the grinder and see how this asus board works. Suposidly it handles 1066DDR2 mode better then the DFI. We shall see.

Can't tell you about the DDR-1066 mode as I'm using DDR-800 but the board is great! Mine has 0 droop at load according to CPU-Z - no fluctuation at all going from idle to full 4x Prime95 load.

I did notice a little glitch on the manual RAM timings so maybe you can check yours to see if it's the production or just my board. The manual tRAS setting runs at -2. My RAM is 4-4-4-12 but when I set that manually CPU-Z and AOD both read it as 4-4-4-10. Funny thing is the rig is more stable with the 4-4-4-10 setting, 4-4-4-12 gave me errors ~40 MHz lower, so I don't know if it's just reporting the tRAS wrong or???

I've managed 3008 MHz so far but still haven't figured out the right voltages or something as I'm running 200x14 to boot then changing to 188x16 in AOD. Rock solid crunching SETI 24/7 for the last week with no errors (all SETI work gets validated by comparison to a second cruncher). I still don't like the settings though - no reason to under-bus the darn thing that I can figure but that's what works. The vCore is 1.3625 (which shows as 1.344 in CPU-Z idle & load) but the vCPU -> NB is only running 1.15v (it's usually near the same as vCore from what I've read). Waiting for WC before I'll play with it more - maybe I can find the time Sunday to swap the GeminII out.

Good luck with yours and keep us posted, maybe we can figure this board out ...!

    Hi !

I have since last week a Phenom 9850BE (step JAAFB AA 0811BPMW). It is assembled on a MSI K9A2 Platinum with 2Go of RAM G.Skill PC6400HK (4-4-3-5 with 800Mhz). I thus tried to push it a little. But this one does not exceed the 2700Mhz (Vcore stock). At this speed it's stable. after, Windows starts but freezes a few minutes later… More Vcore does not do anything

^ Which BIOS are you on?

It's hard to believe a core not responding to anything but stock voltage, somethings missing there check carefully - just play around with it more, you probably have some room yet.

    this is the Bios v1.4.

I tried to augment HTv, NBv but it's the same result.

welcome to the forum mate. It took me ages for my account to start working to..

thats quite interesting you managed to get cores 0 and 1 to 3.3... nice one!

what test have you ran on it to make sure its stable?
after running a stress test try idling for about an hour then opening up a couple of browser windows.. see what happens..
as we have said before in this thread stability is hard to test for the phenom..

    keep up the good work!

I ran Prime 24hours. I never let it stay there after prime cause the CPU was hittig 70' C. So I might give it a go again.. I had NB 2200mhz and the rest was all multiplier. Any time I took the cores 2 & 3 up past 2.9 prime would fail after only 15-30mins, but only on those to cores.

lol @ 70c be carefull man.. what cooler you running.. should really get that hot..
prime for 24 hours is pretty good.. yeah try just running prime for say 4 hours then let it idle for a hour or so then do some small tasks on it and see how she holds up..

clocking the cores independently may be the way forward after all..

hello everyone . great work here. i got a 9850 on an asus m3a32 mvp deluxe and i cant get stable at over 2700 just like syDe! my step is JAAFB AA 0809MPMW i've tried everything to try and get better. vary voltage, different multis for cpu, Nb and Ht different ram timings hell just to see what would happen i lowered ram to 400mhz with 5-5-5-15 a 2.1V Nb multi at 6, HT multi at 6 and Vcore at 1.3875 and it wont run for more then 2 minutes before it crashes at 13.5 cpu multi or at 13*208 orany other freaking combination . same at stock Vcore, same at 1.6875Vcore (it gets hot at 1.6875Vcore) any advise? running th 1002bios. can i change back to a ealier bios that doesn't support the B3? like 0802 worked great for me

    Thanks Cal

I know.... That is why I took er down in speed. Was affraid. I am running Artic Cooling 64 pro. I put a second fan on the cooler to keep the temps a lil better. I am wanting to by a Non air cooling setup or a better air cooling setup then what I have. But don't know what would be my best bet.. any ideas?

It might be my board.. but my 9850 and 9600 be both hated anything above 2.0v on the mem.. I don't have that board (K9A2 Platinum here).. This board has done me well so far other then mem voltage.

For air I like the Scythe Ninja even though it's kinda' old. But I think current money is on the Thermalright Ultra 120.

Non-air cooling is easy for me since about half my rigs are WC. D-Tek Fuzion, MCP655, and a 2-302 heater core, Swiftech MCR220, OR Thermochill PA 120.2 (in order of price & performance) for the CPU only. If you'd like a simple, decent performing kit the Swiftech H2O-220 is a good deal. Slightly better temps might be possible with a triple heater core (MCR 320 OR PA 120.3) but maybe not that much better. Compared to some stuff I've OC'ed these chips run pretty cool ...

Thermalright Ultra Extreme is what I use, and it's pretty decent.

Although Im considering some watercooling soon when SB750 is released. EK Acetal's or D-TEK Fuzion, don't know yet.

    Hi guys
just pop back in see how you all are doing ? I found out my 9850be dosent like more volts to ,it will almost run at 2.8 stable .
I took the my rig to work on friday ran stress test for 6 hour let it idel for about 45 mins the when to the internet all was good .
Than took it to house it crash in the frist 5 min it was up and running again . I try hight clock speed more volts ,lower
the HT link speed do more FBS . I try volts from stock to 1.5 but so far for me not work . It so close to running stable but at 2.8
after i go pass 1.31 volts ( runs stable the longes at this setting ) it just starts crashing faster. So the fastes i been able to get it to
clock and have run right every time i turn the power on is 2.75 . I dont think i can get this chip any highter than this and have it run fully stable. I think just the luck of the draw the one i got not as good as some of the other.

That swifttech looks good. read some reviews and seen it in action.. If it can keep a prescott P4 2.8 520 cool @ 3.5ghz It should do the trick. I found a kit for 189.00 USD. I am thinking of picking it up tonight.

I wouldn't give up.. I built a few 9600 BE systems.. and All of them would do 2.6ghz stock V core with 2200mhz NB and 2.7 with a lil bumb of V core. All were on K9A2 boards tho.. (not that I am a K9A2 fan boy lol.. ok maybe). The 9850 I have( only one I have built so far) has been more stable above 2.7 then @ 2.7. Silly I know.. 3.0ghz was not friendly 3.1 was more. 2.9ghz is the most stable I have found with everything. Tho having cores 0 & 1 @ 3.1 and cores 2 & 3 @ 2.9 work extremely well for me too... getting higher in ghz was a problem more for *C.. She was running a tad hot for my taste lol..

    What was your system specs?..

    Hi!

I Have perhaps just found why I did not succeed in exceeding 2700MHz. My phenom runs in 3Ghz nowadays. But for only 3 cores on 4. The 4th (core #3) rest in 2700Mhz. If I augment it, my pc freezes.
