I was going to ask if you wanted to use mine to test, but I figured that D-Tec would send you there's because you've done testing for them before.

Whatever method you prefer. I like the thin line method for thinner pastes, but this new TIM-consultants grease is much thicker and works better with a thin spread. I have a special little plastic spreader I use to spread just a nice thin layer over the core area.

Even more important is getting the block on nice and level as you get the nuts started. Also make sure your case or motherboard is horizontal for even installation, it's much harder vertical. When it comes to thermal testing the error in mounting is the biggest challenge so everything you can do to minimize that the better.
