    Hello,

    Q729A021
Tested with DFI at 1.45v, needs less vcore compare to my X38QuadGT thats1.48v, so i assume vcore may vary on different board.

well i dont think 400fsb needs high volt for NB, 1.35v more or less, but i don't know, mine does... but taking the consideration, u could place 60mm fan blowing to it

cheapo dual core is amazing, to tell u that capable running 3 - 3.2 mostly.. it's hard for me to upgrade this chip, i use it daily for apps and gaming, no complaints better keep it and just order a new system instead of upgrading

now trying to set lower vcore and see if its the new sweet spot
3.4 with 1.4v in bios, 1 hour running orthos, so far so good

this is what i found info regarding dual core overclocked, dont know if true or not,.. but not bad

for a general statement, does the e2160, e2180, or e2220 able to OC higher at the same vcore? cant decide which one to get since they are pretty much almost same price

No i dont think so,.. never experience with 2180 or 2200, but i have one 2140 and two 2160, my 2140 can run 3.4Ghz 1.4v 12hrs orthos stable but both 2160 needs more than 1.45v to run at 3.2Ghz.. well, maybe i got bad 2160 but thats just my experience

    Nice L2 there Spawne32

one place i can answer some things here finally ....i always ask things lol..

anyway.. i have owned all of them. imo the best oc'er is the 2140. dont get a 2200 its a waste on money imo they (i had 3) done oc as well as the lower ones and the added cost while minimal is not worth it. they also ran hotter than the rest.

the 2180 i tested 4 different batches and i have one sitting here also unopened i have not tried yet. the highest they really liked on air was 3.0-3.2 while one did 3.4 but im not sure how stable it was i didnt run it to hard. i used it like that for a week and never had a issue or a bsod though. i only had one 2160 and it did about the same as the 2140 but the 2140 is cheaper...

all of my 2140's did at least as well as the rest and i had 2 of them up to 3.4-3.6...on air... stable. imo if i was buying another one of this line i would grab a 2140.

wow that's great that you got to test them all. the difference between all of these is the multiplier. so with this in mind, cant i just get a e2220 and lower the multiplier down to 8 to be equivalent of the e2140? then will it have the same OCing potential or does it not work that way? this is so i would have a high multiplier to start out with, with the option of going lower if i want to, whereas the e2140 is already capped at 8x multiplier

mainly the higher multi from what ive been learning is better when you have a mobo that cant handle the higher fsb you can use the higher multi to your advantage. thus having a lower overall fsb but the chip still runs a higher speed.

i had no luck with the 2200's no matter really what i did with a true on them they ran the hottest even with a lower fsb. if your mobo can handle the higher fsb imo i would get a e2140 if i was buying one again. im being told this e2180 i have here is a good chip. ive seen on a few sites from china it getting 3.4 or higher. its still sealed and even though im tempted i dont know if ill open it though seeing as im moving to either a quad or a dual e8x00 series next

I have one 2160 and a 2180 processor. Both are runningat 3.2Ghz. The 2180 has a VID of 1.325 and the 2160 has a VID of 1.275. Suprisingly, the lowest VID came from Buy.com and the highest VID (2180) came from Clubit.com known for offering the best steppings in the chips they sell.

    I have a Zalman 9500 on the 2180 and a Thermalright Ultra 90 on the 2160. Both chips run at 1.32v CPU-Z

I have not tried very hard to push these chips over 3.2Ghz. After hitting the wall at 3.2, I stopped.

I don't have the box, the computer is at my mom's house. The VID on that is 1.325. My Q6600 "GO" is from Clubit.com as well. The box on the 2160 has a dark blue color and different picture design than what the 2180's came with. I thought the lighter blue box (standard Core2Duo box)was the newer box. Buy.com has picture of a pentium D box for the e2160, which probably hurts sales, but it does look closer to the new box. The 2160 pack date is March 5th 2008 & batch# Q749A124 S-SPEC SLA8Z.

I will post the 2180 batch number if I can find it the box.

In my opinion, everyone should be able to hit 3.2GHZ on the 2140-2200 chips. Based on two different chips and two different motherboards. These are the greatest value on the market since way back when AMD's Athlon XP 2500+ chip.

Make sure you turn up your FSB and northbridge voltage. Even if your FSB doesn't exceed 400Mhz, it still makes a difference if you're overclocking 3+Ghz. I have my northbridge at 1.45v and the VTT at 1.4v

This is the processor you were asking about Zfactor. It's for the 2180 with a 1.325VID bought from Clubit.com
