The sensor is screwed up on it. Idle is about 55 in water, load was over 90c. I've had 2 other E8400s and 2 x E3110s and they all ran 28 idle, mid to high 50's load (in realtemp) over 4.1 Ghz. I've actually had this chip reading over 105c so I know it's not actual or the damn thing would be dead. I've lapped it and its water cooled. Pulled the chip after some benching and it wasnt even warm, neither was the water or my PA120.2 so I know it's not running that hot. My quad @ 3.7 will actually make my rad warm to the touch. I can gauge how hot a chip is running by measuring water temp and the surface of the rad.

Give it a day or two, it will be fine.

I don't know if the sensor is screwed but a few minutes ago I learned that thermal throttling gets active according to that sensor. I set the core voltage to 1.425 and 4300 mhz. when I started orthos core temps reached 100 (coretemp) and The RMCLOCK reported there is overheating and thermal throttling....

so I donT know what it means.. mine is stable at 1.216 3825 mhz and 1.244 3915 and 500*8=4000 at 1.280 loadv but the temps are so high... at 4000 the cores reaches 83..

I too have experienced that, and I believe that it is not degradation but rather a break in period. I had to raise my Vcore by around 0.32 to be stable, yet I never used extreme volts which could have damaged my CPU. Currently I stand at 1.368V LOAD at 4200MHz, initially I needed 1.336V LOAD to be stable at that same frequency.

testing cpu priority, I have such a ripple on the Vcore... plus OCCT misreading the fsb... However, I'm glad.

Just be prepared because you might have to go up to +.05mv over initial
to make it 100% stable. But don't loose any sleep over it, it will be fine.
Once it's done with burn-in it will remain stable.

I oc'd my e8400 to 4.5 to 4.7 on air when i got it, loosening my ram timings to maximums. I let the voltage go to 1.5V real @ Load during benching, then tried to stress test with orthos @ 4.5ghz 1.42V. I settled for 4.2ghz @ 1.38V real for normal usage. I guess that was my burnin process...

I see -- you didn't keep lowering the voltage and stressing?

yes when i stayed at 4.2g, i played around with various combinations from 445mhz x 9 [4050] and up. at 4.2g i started with 1.424 Vcore load and kept going down until i found 1.38v to be the lowest possible before i would keep crashing.

1.38 took about 1.45V in the bios on my ip35E

Currently, i'm very dissapoint with e8400 batch Q748A143. Too much vcore to reach prime stable, 445x9@ 1.440v is overkill, imo. Sorry no screenshoot with that damn batch, I'm still struggling
