It's a pity that Nvidia was given the chance to fix stuff before the public release while ATI needed to wait for the final version to be released.

Hope to see some benches here soon

Thank you very much for posting this hotfix! I'm running a Quadfire setup and was hoping for a quick release from ATI to address the problems I was having. Off to try these out

So nVidia releases a driver and it's 'OMG, nVidia is cheating with a vantage release', and when ATI has a 'hotfix' it's 'Yay, now I can get a decent score'. I'm not an nVidia fanboy or anything, but I do think the nVidia bashers needs to lay off when a new driver is realeased to fix something.

    This is almost unbelievable.
I find it rather hard to believe.
And I have the best source to verify that if needed.

You could, but it would only turn into a "who has the best source" game so it's of no use

I think the issue in the other thread, was that fanboi's were saying it was due to superior hardware etc, and just illustrating the real differences... something along those lines...

Comparison now should yield realistic results.. and i think that is all people were wanting, is a fair comparison.

Back OT, this hotfix does nothing for 3870x2 Rendering errors, and there is no driver in the install package...just some C++ update crap, and new CCC.

Of course, this then leads to problems, when the AMD page for this hotfix says to make sure to remove all ATI drivers prior to install, especially, if Cat 8.4 is installed.

It should say make sure NOT to remove all ATI drivers prior to install, especially, if Cat 8.4 is installed.

I knew there was a problem when even the 3870 X2 was getting ~7k and a 8800GT was getting ~6k, just glad that ATI fixed it.
As far as I am concerned there was no foul play from Nvidia or indeed ATI, and doesn't the boat in the first test have a sapphire logo????
Only people to blame here are ATI but it's fixed now so all is well

This is not true. The hotfix is the whole driver package. I know because I removed my old one completely, then installed the hotfix. It includes the drivers and CCC.

I can confirm that the hotfix is a complete driver and Catalyst Control Center package which has fixed the corruption errors I was getting prior to installing this fix. Once installed, reboot, check to make sure that Crossfire is enabled and then reboot again. Should work just fine...

I used that driver too and my bugs using Crossfire were gone too. Performance was about the same, no increases here.

OK guys with driver in install package, what was total download size? I downloaded it very early today, hopefully there is a replacement that fixes the issue.

I just tried my package again, still no driver in the downloaded hotfix. I'll redownload again.

EDIT: new package is the same. A litte help here? Check the pic out...no driver!

The total size of the download should be 41.1mb. Are you downloading from this link: http://support.ati.com/ics/support/d...asp?deptID=894

Yes, downloaded from that link, and yes, I uninstalled old drivers first...like really..not new to this...one of the few people still posting HWBOT scores for the team regularily..fugger doesn't even do that lately. Anyway, if older drivers or something were istalled, it would show this in the screen i posted up above..with a checkmark if isntalling version is newer, withut check if installing driver is older...

Problem solved by installing driver manually through device manager. Still rendering errors on 4-gpu CrossfireX, single gpu runs fine. This is also noted in teh release notes, tho.

Some posted that if you reboot twice it would fix the problem.

lol reformat? I tell you what, you come over and re-install the 500gb of my Vista install. Installed only 8.4 previous to this just a few days ago...after formatting. Damn SP1!!!

Problem is in the driver package, and I think it's because I have Ageia card installed, and this causes issues with Vista's HW detection...second GPU on each card was missing even default Vista vga driver after un-install.

I'll uninstall and try the double reboot...

Sry 4 double post guys...but...thanks ECH, that worked.

Second GPU on each card detected on second reboot, driver now installs from package.
