Shamino and the bios engineers have been working on bioses like crazy From January till March there was about 20 bios updates. They are continueing to toll out as well.

Really good boards don't need external VRs

The bios goes up to 2.4v on the cpu vcore. It was tested by Shamino at 2.2v through 3dmark06. The board is rock solid. No bios can allow you the precision you can get with a VR.

Peter awesome job man. Give a pat on the back to yourself and the rest of the QF workers that worked on this. Its amazing for 359 you guys are going above and beyond anything Asus is offering.

Actually $400 = £200, thats still cheaper then the Asus Asus P5E3 Premium WiFi :

But the only thing I want right now in the motherboard department is a cheap alternative to the P35 that has 2x 16x PCI-E lanes for crossfire. Nvidia has the 650i and 750i for cheap SLI, but still nothing decent for ATI unless you want to cripple your second card on a 4x slot.

A 1x 16x or 2x 8x solution like when SLI was first released would even be better then a 16x and a 4x IMO. But theres no reason why they cant offer two full 16x lanes on budget boards if Nvidia are able to do so.

Both the X38 and X48 are far too expensive for a budget buyer wanting to use crossfire.

What do you mean by last sentence? Do you really need smaller increments than say 0.005V? Or maybe you meant that you can adjust voltage after you have already loaded OS?

8 X 8 PCI-E scored better than 16 X 16 and 16 X 4. But the overall result showed much to do about nothing. Or little or no difference. I'm not running CF yet, but if I did, 16 X 4 is the least of my worries. I wish some one would post that review again

Well, I used my 3870 in both my 16x and 4x slot and I got this:

So in a crossfire setup, wouldnt the second card also be crippled like this?

There are a few X48's with two slots for around £150, but that is still a bit too much, and the X38's are terrible overclockers.

If I had the cash I would go ahead and buy an X48, but I am still hoping we can get a sub £100 budget version like the 650i / 750i but for crossfire.

Well it does allow you to adjust the voltages in windows specially for cold boot bugged cpus. It also allows for a more precise voltage adjustment. The bios has alot of options for the vcore but not as many as a VR would give you.

Manufacturer can't discriminate Intel/nVidia specifications.
Due to voltage regulator, each value can fluctuate by some margin, straight regulation in circuit is best for enthusiasts. Why does some people mod car electronics to allow maximum specs from engine? Yeah, thats why manufacturer won't allow you to get everything from their products, because it will put too much stress to engine or this time board components and won't quality some of specifications.
