So far, it looks like the R700 (dual R770XT) will be priced at $499. And a single R770XT will be like $299. OUCH.

It has to be lower than that or Nvidia will bury ATi this summer with GT200 chips. Well, at least it makes sense that ATI wants to capitalize on those prices until the GT200 comes out maybe 1 month later in June, I guess...

Personally, I aint getting nothing to replace my 8800GTX until the R700 drops down below $300, or if the GT200 is gonna be worth every penny. Some rumors say that Nvidia might do weird stuff like releasing different cards in increments over the months (like the 8800GT, GTS512, 9800GTX, but with bigger differences)---argh, that would drive my impatient nuts NUTS!

The 4870 will probably end up faster than the 9800 Series of cards, which is what ATI is really going after with these cards (save maybe the 4870X2 which "may" be going after the GT-200), so the 4870X2 will not be going below $300 before the 9800 X2.

May '08, exact date not fixed yet ? . TH says the cards went into production since March.

I cant wait for the 4870X2. Finally it might be something that is capable of competing with 8800GTX at high resolutions.

There's no screenshot to back up Chiphell's "blog entry" claiming double rv670 performance. [ although double performance is what I've heard from another source myself ]

The original source doesn't say C2D. VR-Zone came up with that. I'm 99% sure it's the same screens they're talking about.
