OK, so even after the settings I've been working on I am still having stability issues. So I started to think that my PSU may not be big enough for everything. Here's the list:

    Q6600 @ 3.6GHz
    4 x 1GB G.Skill HZ's
    Dual 3870x2's in CrossfireX
    DFI X38
Four Seagate 250 GB SATA 7200.10's
    Plus fans, DVD burners, etc.

According to EOV's PSU Calculator (Lite - I'm still waiting on registration for the Pro), I should only need around 750W. My Thermaltake 850W PSU is CrossFire certified for 3870x2's and 2900xt's. I only loaded it up with Prime 95 and rthdribl, but 12v loads never went below 12v. So, I don't know if this is a problem or not...

As a side note, and this is a BIG side note, I was poking around with the IR thermometer and realized my memory is hitting 60C load when I have the CPU OC'ed to 3.6 and the ram is at 2.2V! I'm guessing that's a big problem, right? Right now I clocked the CPU at stock and the ram is idling at 47C.

So I'm going to whip up a quick fix with a Vantec Stealth 120mm fan, but do you guys know which ram coolers work with this board and a big vid card in slot one? My concern is the little amount of space between the ram and the card.

I know this might be a stupid question, but do you guys plug in the extra floppy type power connectors in the board when you are overclocking? With just 1 GPU? My board is not too happy at high FSB, like 1600+, I get some crappy lagging and buffering going on. Part of the problem is the 4 sticks of RAM, but I am fine when running 1600FSB. anything higher is stable, but I get the strange lagging in games and applications.

I just never thought of it until today. Last time I checked, they were running cool, but that was on my old system, and they weren't receiving additional voltage like they are now.

Any thoughts on a ram cooler?

NB is watercooled, and I have tried upwards of 1.6V to no avail. I tried setting trfc to 50, and it would refuse to boot.... Same with only 2 sticks of RAM too. It's really picky!

    Hey T

The OCZ XTC Ram cooler is great and can handle Ballistix at 1200Mhz PL 5.

You will need to install your videocard in the second PCIe16 slot to fit the OCZ cooler though, as the RAM is too close to the top PCIe slot

where can i tweak if my system is OOCT stable...but randomly hangs in bios at boot...or doesnt come out from sleep 3 out of 10 times.
I figure if i run OCCT CPU/MIX/RAM for an hour...i just dont understand where the problem is. Maybe more VRam? Its already at 2.20. Something doesnt seem to get enough voltage at startup?

Guys what software are you using to read the CPU temperature? Which one do you think would be most accurate? Bios , Realtemp, Everest, whatever i use it shows different values . Bios even shows temps (at idle) that are only 1 degree higher than ambient.. And given the crappy way in which i managed to install the TRUE, I really doubt its doing that good of a job

Can it be that the BIOS reads wrong temperatures with a 45nm quad? Im using the stock bios (no idea which bios to flash on it :X suggestions?)

Thanks, I used to have one of those, but I don't think there is enough room between the ram and the top vid slot to fit the brackets.

That's kinda what I was saying above, except with dual vid cards, I need both slots.

I just remembered I have a DuOrb CPU cooler laying around. I'm gonna throw that on later this afternoon. I know it will be better for the ram, but hopefully it does a good job on the CPU, too.

There are two more BIOS files 1-11 and 3-14. 1-11 is supposed to be better for OC and fixes the NB voltage issue on some boards. Use either one of the two newer ones, unless you need something specifically updated in the latest.

For temp programs, I find Smart Guardian reads CPU temp lower at idle that CoreTemp, plus I don't like the fact it shows one temp. I assume it's reading socket temp, if these boards do indeed have a socket sensor.

I recommend trying multiple propgrams like CoreTemp, RealTemp, Everest and the like and see if there is a consensus. Then use the one you like that gives you the most accurate temps.

Guys check my sig I have to big fat HD 3870's and they fit fine with the XTC cooler without bumping into anything.

The only thing you have to do is attach the bottom part 1st with the LOW PROFILE screw and use a black isolation tape on the metal part of the the cooler and then attach the thumb screw on the top.

    It fit's perfectly.

They do just the same job as 2 x 90mm and they look a lot nicer. The fans has a nice speed and are low noise and the flow is perfect for 4 dimms you don't need anything higher then that.

The OCZ XTC will fit nicely with 2 ATI HD3870x2 just follow my advice in using the low profile on the bottom and use a small piece of black tape so you don't short anything in the vid cards.

Cool, good to know. I was afraid I would only be able to use the ugly Corsair one.

Right now I just got done installing the DuOrb. and I think that may work for the time being. However, it looks like I will be trying out my watercooling again with the new case coming Tuesday. I may need to get one of these ordered this afternoon.

Can it be that the BIOS reads wrong temperatures with a 45nm quad? Im using the stock bios (no idea which bios to flash on it :X suggestions?)
best way is to use the realtemp documented idle calibration test to judge how accurate your idle temp is when cpu set to 6x266FSB and lowest vcore available on your board and compare it to your room/case ambients
