I know it's a n00b question, but how are you guys running vista finding out your VID? I couldn't get everest to do it.

I returned my voltage guzzling L804 batch q6600 and picked up the only non L804 batch in stock at the local Fry's. I figured I was starting out so far behind the eight ball with that chip's voltage needs that I would just RMA it and try for a potentially better batch.
The one I picked up is from batch L743A. The VID is 1.300. It can run two hours OCCT stable at 3.6ghz with 1.43v vcore (by everest) with load temps peaking at 55c (cpu is watercooled). Not going to break any records with it, but a step up nonetheless as my L804 batch couldn't run 3.6ghz regardless of vcore. I still have a bit of room to push it further- do most people feel 1.55v vcore (real) is a sensible vcore limit for 24/7 use?
Thanks for the offer, but I don't need anymore Q6600, so here is my list of Batch# and their respective VID Value for anyone who wants to make use of it.
http://spreadsheets.google.com/ar?id...scol=0&ecol=10
I will keep updating the list if folks give me the data, The data is only as good as what folks say it is, so take this data as you would any other data from the Web.

When I click on the Link I get the whole spreadsheet appearing in another window, Google will only let me copy 1000 rows, otherwise I would copy it to here, but then it does not format properly.
Do you have a suggestion
I just figured what needs to be done to view the spreadsheet.
OK I am in the process of testing this with someone and it requires that I enter email address as Viewers to view the spreadsheet. Once the test is concluded I will open up invites for those that want to be included in the list as viewers.

OK forget the link that I posted previously, if you would like to view the Batch# and VID relationship data that I have been collecting, you need to PM me with your Hotmail, Gmail or yahoo email and I will add you to the list so that you can view it.

Just thought I'd chime in with my info for ya. I just bought a Q6600 from NCIX Canada (5 days ago). And my Batch# is "L805A320"
Clocks to 3.2Ghz but won't even post at anything above 3.2. I tried upping the voltage from it's 1.35 minimum to 1.4 still nothing.
Looks like the sale was a good indicator that were scraping the bottom of the barrel.
VID is 1.3125

Looks like this is the beginning of Intel's new 's'tragedy.... No more overclocking, and in response to my own query on post #126 for us using Vista x64 and the newest everest, VID is under "motherboard:cpu:cpu physical info" Thx zen, but coretemp never worked under vista x64...

Probably a good idea Gen. I returned my L804 q6600 and found an L743 batch at the local Fry's and bought it. It has a VID of 1.300. I am running it at 3.8ghz 24/7 now, and it is 4hrs OCCT stable- stable enough for gaming. It does, however, require 1.58vcore to do this, and I am watercooling. Under full OCCT load, my core temps peak around 63degC, so I can't complain too much. I don't know if I will significantly shorten the cpu lifespan at this vcore...but hey, it will just give me an excuse to upgrade!
Has anyone had any good OC luck with the L8xx batches? I would wager most of the major e-tailers are all shipping the L8xx batches by now.
My Q6600 has just arrived. It has L745B108 batch, how do you think, will it be nice? Can't test it cuz I haven't got rest of my new PC so far.
I bought this one as oem open box from newegg, $189 + $1 shipping, settings are as optimal defaults on IP35-Pro, no oc yet.

maybe it will!
1.210 wow that hopefully will be a nice chip.. i saw those open box ones. but i assume they will be scattered batches as they are open box ones..
upgrading...cooler master cm690 case, corsair hx850, samsung 1tb x 3, optiarc burners x2, gskill 4gb ripjaws, working on the rest again
My q6600 was idling at 1.1675 VID. when under 100load with P95 it changed up to 1.325V
This sound right? Do you go by load or idle VID?
hows are the L804's clocking?
@zen, Ouch looks like I got aty vid
