I was hoping you guys could help and be a bit "technical", as in discussing the PCB in details, as in what chips are used on the PCB and what they do etc.

I'll start off with the LM324 Op-Amp...not sure who makes it though:

Hey guys, I have just a few quick questions. Does anyone know any places where the non "E" version can be found for cheap? I was just wanting to get that one, but I can't really find it anywhere...if I can't find it for a good price I will probably just pick up the X48 version. Also, are people seeing similar overclocking results with the X48 version? Thanks

I can't believe the voltages I need to put with this board to get my E8400 and memory stable at 3.74Ghz. So far the only way I can get an OCCT Mix Test at High priority stable for 45 minutes is with +0.225V on the Northbridge, +0.30V on the FSB and 1.360V for the vCore (in CPU-z). That's with 2.176V on the Memory at 998Mhz at 5-5-5-18 with tRD of 8 on the 2.40B Strap. That's using BIOS F8c.

Is there any concensus as to the best bios for this board? Mine shipped with F6, and I've been using it with no problems...

"IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT!"

But if there is any advantage to upgrade to bios F9A BETA?

    Maybe fix vdroop?

    Cooooweeee i just did my biggest overclock ever. E8400 @ 4.05(1.36v) with OCz reaper 1066 @ 1200 Mhz 5-5-5-15, 2.1v. on the 2.66D strap.
Bumped up pci-e/fsb/mch voltages by .15 . I had to play around with memory timings to get it to stick but after about 10 boots its ok.

Interesting that the system temps are about the same as defaults, Cpu is a little higher but not much.

I've had alot more success in overclocking with 45nm CPU's than any previous models so theyre definately worthwhile for anyone thinking about getting one.

Can you please post settings for your memory?

I have been following this thread since the beginning and so far I haven't been able to get my overclock stable.

    I'm running E8400, OCZ ReaperX 2x2GB PC2-8000, X38-DQ6 (BIOS 9a) and a GF8800GTX.

BTW guys, regarding the funky timings when setting memory on AUTO (getting like 5-7-7-20), mine does that too. I think it's a BIOS bug or a "feature" and they should fix it...

Ya, well it turns out mine wasnt too stable either but the memory was on 5-5-5-15 static tread on 7 the rest on Auto. performance enhance was on standard. The only settings i did manually were the first 4, refresh to act delay, and static tread.

Dont be afraid to go up to 1200 Mhz on the memory, i only got the overclock to stick when i went up to 1200Mhz.

In gonna stick with 3.6Ghz for a rock solid system and less headaches.

Oh god...things are bad!..i've resorted to looking at the GB website, harbinger of death, no new betas or driver updates....i got some new case fans today, but that ain't gonna get my techno jollies off.

Though did get to read about the new generation Veloci-Raptors...fastest SATA drives in the world, mid May...300GB, $300 per drive????

Thats gonna be an expensive upgrade, $600 for RAID 0?....i could run six 320GB Samsung drives in RAID 0 with that dosh!

    Dammit...bring on P45.

Any new beta Bios for X48T DQ6 except F5a

There is so memory divider issues when I installed my newly bought E7200. Certain memory divider will hinder the ocability of the CPU. Need to use 4:5 divider to go higher than 400mhz FSB.

Any input on this or does anybody here have E7200 and encounter the memory divider issues?

Guys, i need serious help with some things. As y'all know the memory is split into two channels, A=yellow slots, B=red slots.

My question is this...is it better for stability/overclocking/in general to use the yellow or red slots...or does it matter at all?

Second, strap settings...that OCZ kit is available in Ireland, the 1150MHz job...but i'm limited by alot of factors, FSB/voltage/straps etc.

I have two options in bios, either use the 2.66C or 2.66D strap which will give me 1133MHz....which is better?, C = 200 D = 400, any thoughts on this?

    Hi Richard,

Regarding your first question: I really don't know, but from what I've seen around (with other boards, not this one) the 'second' set of slots are better for high frequencies, but slow on timings, thus being more stable. I cannot offer much help regarding this point.

Regarding the second question: For me, the D strap is better. More stable with fast freqs. and is also able to accept lower timings and performance level. But I guess this depends a lot on the brand/model of memory your putting inside...
