    I have tested bios 0507, 0512 and 0601.
0601 improved stability in a sense because now I can boot linked and synched at fsb 1800, 1850, 1900 (did not try above).

What is giving me trouble is the P1/P2 option.
As soon as they are enabled, I can't post anymore.
I have tested 2 different PC14400 kits (corsair dominator and cellshock), even with relaxed timings, still no post: stuck on "DET RAM"

The only way to finally POST was to set NB at 1.7V ! Anything below that won't make my board start...
What the hell?! I see all people using values of 1.44V, 146V max for NB with P1/P2 enabled and give very nice memory read in everest.

What is wrong with my s2e?
    I easily go to 60°C when NB @1.7V :-(

    - Do you guys care to share exp. about NB voltage?
    - Why is everest read so bad with P1/P2 on auto?

I was running the following setting at pictured BIOS 0511 with a display Driver 174.74 with my 9800GTX SSC with no problems.. Then I wanted to try my 8800GT's with a display Driver 169.44 and I had to go to a 5:4 to boot into windows.. Why should this matter by changing only the display Driver?

And I am not to impressed so far with my new eVGA 9800GTX's cards. In 3DMARK06 with these cards at current setting I scored a 20,754. Now with my eVGA SSC 8800GT's I scored a 20,334 not to off the 9800GTX???? Is it because of the new driver for it? I hope or I just wasted $700.00..

Here is my test log with 0601.

    CPU- E3110
    RAM-OCZ 1600EB 2X2=4GB
    GPU-GTX SLI
    HDD-2xRaptor 150 in Raid 0
    OS-XP 32

Ran memtest with all auto for 1 pass.

Reformatted and installed XP. Kept everything on auto , did not install any drivers. Testing with a bare minimum xp installation(task manager says just 82MB used ). SPI 32M 2 instances was a hard freeze.

Changed it to "Unlinked" with 1333QDR and 1600 RAM with 1.90V on the RAM with 7-6-6-24-2T, everything else on Auto. Memtest good for 1 pass.
    SPI 32M errored out.

Kept all the settings same as before except changed the RAM timing to 7-7-7-24-2T, SPI 32M passed.

Will now install all the drivers and XP updates and try 1600QDR -1600RAM. Will keep you guys posted.

Going forward with my testing log, 400FSB/1600QDR was a no go with Auto for VTT and SPP. SPI 32M froze windows. Had to set 1.38 for SPP and 1.30 for VTT and here are the results.

Also, it looks like 0601 is still overvolting going by the BIOS readings and Everest/PC Probe readings. I set 1.90 for the RAM, 1.30 for VTT an 1.38 for SPP and the readings in BIOS and windows were, 1.97 for RAM, 1.34 VTT and 1.42 SPP.

Also, enabling P1 and P2 did not gain any bandwidth atleast at these settings, but the latency did come down.

    I am priming now.

The board seems to be a bit more consistent with 0601. If it fails, it fails consistently. After 2 hours of being prime stable @ 1600 QDR and 1600 RAM, now pushing on to 1800 QDR/1800 RAM in "Unlinked". Running memtest now, so far so good. I hope you guys don't mind me using this thread like a blog

Eventhough I got the board stable enough to do SPI 32M with 1800/1800, I am not prime stable. No matter how high of a Vcore I give it, Prime 95 fails immediately(went all the way upto 1.45 in BIOS, scared to go any higher on air), within the first minute. Also, P1 and P2 made a lot of difference, went from 9K read with P1/P2 Auto to 12K read with P1/P2 enabled. I would have to disable P1/P2 and try priming.

Run Orthos tekjunkie, and set it to test the ram, not the CPU.
I think you'll find the RAM being the cause ( or the ram divider ) of your instability.

    Hi Tekjunkie
Been reading your posts and am having exactly the same problem with QX9650. Cannot run at anything over standard FSB. Have used all bios versions. Did you get anywhere with this processor on this board? BTW I am also using raptors in Raid0, do you think this could be part of the problem?

2nd striker 2 extreme mobo with the same NVIDIA 9800 GX2 GPU and BIOS issues

    In my thread here: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...=1#post2936053

    & here:

    http://forums.slizone.com/index.php?showtopic=20567

I have outlined the problems I've had with two Asus Striker II Extreme + 9800 GX2 in as many weeks.

If the above users with the combination of mobo and GPU would kindly let me know which PSU they are using it would be most appreciated?

Here's the quote from my other thread @ xtremesystems.org outlining the issue in detail with the possible conclusion that the BIOS or the lack of power from my combi PSU's being the issue because I have tried this GPU on another inferior mobo and PSU and it works fine.

"As I stated in my topic this is the second striker II extreme motherboard I have had in the last two weeks that is unable to display any thing in BIOS/DOS or Windows using my BFG 9800 GX2 GPU?

To make matters worse when I use my BFG 8800 GTX GPU to boot into the BIOS or Windows to update BIOS from the version 0402 that the mobo shipped with I am told that, ”ROM ID in the file is incompatible with the existing BIOS"? The only too available ROM versions are 0508 & 0601.bin, neither of which seem to be compatible with the currently installed version 0402. So I’m caught in a loop, anyone got any ideas as to what the hell is going on?

I know what you’re thinking that maybe it’s the BFG 9800 GX2 GPU that is at fault, but I have tried it on a different motherboard (ASRock 1333 FSB), and it works fine ironically on a inferior 650 Watts GPU. SIIE mobo has a superior 650 Watts ASAKA PSU with a piggyback ThermalTake power plus 250 Watts dedicated graphics card PSU which works fine with my current BFG 8800 GTX GPU.

The other issue I have is that I can’t get both sticks of 2 x 2Gb of DDR3 OCZ - OCZ3P16004GK 2 x 2GB 7-7-7-24 – RAM to boot but one stick 2Gb is fine, anyone else having this problem?

I only bought the 790i SLi SIIE because my first striker extreme 680i SLi is at Asus UK for repair but in the last two weeks I’ve had two SIIE, both with the same graphics card issue!"

Sorry about the rant in the last para but you are on your 3rd mobo and into plus 1k in pennies 3 weeks sound a long time to fined a fix.

Anyway, if you can let me know if you have this combo of mobo & GPU & what PSU run's them I would be most gratfull

    Cheers

    Thanks in advance

I, at the direction of others here (you should read this thread from the beginning, it's not sadistically long yet, and there's some good info....not a dig, just a suggestion, I know you're frustrated....I am too, having RAM problems....anyway), I had to use awardflash to flash the 0511 and 0601 BIOS the "old fashioned" way.

NEVER use the windows flash utility.

Can't help you on the other stuff. Sorry and good luck.

I am currently using my E3110 as I wanted to see how far I can push my RAM.(2x2GB OCZ EB). QX9650 is next up. I will let you know as soon as I get my QX9650 on the S2E. Also, 0601 fixed the problem that I had with 400FSB/1600 QDR. Also, when you have 2x2GB sticks run em @ 2T even when running default speeds(1333)

Same problem here 9650 and Raid0. Everything seems ok, then I get a random restart while gaming.

Care to share your voltages at 400FSB? I think we have the same 1600EB 2 x 2 ram, and E3110.

How far did you get your ram?

Just curious what you got and what you used to get it to work.

Well I am @ 4050GHz on my Q6600 Go 1.50v with no reboots, and running a FSB 1800 2:1 memory @ 8-7-7-21 1T 1.85v I have been playing Crysis DX10 @ HIGH settings 1600x1200 with no problems.. And running 2 x WD Raptor X 150 in a raid -0-. But when I change display drivers to a 8800GT 169.44 I can not boot into windows at these settings, and I am only able to do a 5:4 with my memory??

    CPU- Auto
    RAM-7-7-7-24 2T @1.9(Subtimings all on auto)
    SPP-1.38
    VTT-1.3

Every thing else on auto with EIST and C1E disabled and all spread spectrums disabled.

Mind you, I tested only for SPI 1M/32M stability and 2 hours of prime stability. I don't know whether I would have been 3D stable with my stock 8800GTX SLI.The aim was to find the max frequency of my RAM as eventually my E3110 will go to the P5N-T and put the QX9650 on S2E.

I am actually priming now@ 450 FSB, so far so good(been like half an hour) and it takes a lot of vcore to get there(1.4625 set in BIOS with loadline disabled).

    Good luck.

It looks like I have got a real crappy chip(E3110). The batch was Q745A778.
It can't do 450 FSB even @ 1.4625. I am not even gonna try going any further. It's time for my QX9650.

Also, my RAM can't do 2000, the max I have tried is 1800, so I guess the upper limit of my RAM is between 1800 and 2000.

    I can't run linked more than 1600Qfsb.

My system goes unstable from 1600 to 2100. I'm running 2100Qfsb unlinked to run stable and memory 1333 5-5-5-15 :S

    I can't run my Dominator's C7 at stock speed (1800) linked..

This mobo droops a lot of performance when it runs unlinked.

I think that will be back to P35...

Try to add more vdimm in bios. With the same configurations as yours I put 1.88 or 1.9V on memory and it boot ok.

Well, for me, i get random reboot with evrything on auto... tryed all bunch of video drivers already.

Maybe the memory running under volt ? Its set on auto at 1333 (OCZ 12800), i guess ill try running it with more volt

I can now boot lowering voltages

    I'm vdimm default (2.0v)
I use 1.60NB and 1.60 SB and boot ok!

Less voltage on Sb does artifacts with Gx2 on Desktop

More voltage = blue screen loading Vista

    I now testing...

Also, my RAM can't do 2000, the max I have tried is 1800, so I guess the upper limit of my RAM is between 1800 and 2000.
so you suggest to avoid it?
