i've killed 4 sticks crucial lanfest so far thier on rma atm.
my real question is-
i need a cpu for my backup rig since my e2180 isnt cutting it for what i want. so i figured i'd take the q6600 out of my main rig.(specs in my sig)
what would be a good upgrade from a q6600 in these maximus/rampage boards. are the yorkfields clocking well in these? or should i just get a wolfdale for the backup rig and keep the q6600.

Help on temps as these temps seem crazy to me but have played with AMD since the old northwood days so may be normal but.....
Coretemp and Everest read CPU core temps as 47-51C idle and 62-66C full load. Mobo CPU reading 25-40c idle/load. Have remounted 5 or 6 times using MX2 or AS5 with same results. Mounting using the Dtek pro mount so mount should be good. CPU is at 1.37V but have dropped to stock speed and voltage but temps only drop about 1-2C.
Even tried removing the CPU hold down and using HS as hold down thinking the HS may be hitting plate made no difference.
HELP!

i live in los angeles california usa
but i dont mind international shipping as i get a really good shipping rate and i know how to avoid duties and taxes (vat).
just drop me a pm as we are getting off topic here but i would do it for what i paid for it.

i got my maximus se to rampage 308 bios and everything is working good at 3.6.. it was a little tricky getting the first settings and finding ones that worked. my temps are very good for air and the voltages are not very high.. the only downside which is a super bummer is no matter what i tried the thing would not hold raid aray.. i have been trying everything for months.. i gave up and installed a single hard drive on ide and it stays running.. no problems yet. i may try to get a raid card and install it to see if i can get my raptors to actually work. i took the stock heat sink off so i don't think i can return the board or if they even have any left to replace it with. so i am going to eventually get a different board if the card doesn't work for raid on it.. i used the rampage guide on the first page and everything went flawless. i found some settings using the search on this thread since things are combined and came up with some good starting points.. thanks..

i tried raid 0 with 2 new raptors when i first built the computer.. it failed a drive. we stuck it in my brothers and it worked just fine. i got a couple other raptors anyway. i tried raid 0 again a few times with different drives. raid 5, raid 10 a few times also. i now have 5 raptors. raid 10 with parrity would last the longest but eventually after a few drives rebuilding it would go away also.. updated drivers, upping my nb volts pretty much everything.. new sata cables. i even changed out my 4x1 sticks of crucial balistix with 2x2 sticks of corsair to see if that was causing it. i think my board is just hosed on the raid controller or somthing.. the only thing i havn't changed was my psu which is a x3 1k but it seams to run just fine with everything.. i pretty much got installing everything over and over again down so at least i learned a bunch in that aspect. it would work for a day or two a week or more then a drive would drop off. if i restarted my computer a different one would and sometimes if i restarted again it wouldn't show any bad drives.. it's very strange..

Do we have a new bios in our mist? Can anyone confirm this Bios 1006?

right now on the rampage 308 bios at 3.6 with the single drive it is.. which was pretty much where i had it when the raid was installed other then upping the nb volts a little more to test. i tried pci-e 105,110,111,112 also..i was kind of lost on why it would not stay working. i tried for a couple months .i gave up on it a couple days ago.. i am still learning the rampage bios.. so maybe after i find out how all the settings work i can try raiding it again.. it's hard finding others reference bios settings now that the thread got combined. i searched and searched and can't find the link.. i found it once and should have bookmarked it..

Hi, well they still recommend their memory on the Crucial's website http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/list...l%20Edition%29
I also have been using crucial memory since I first purchased the motherboard back in october '07...

Been playing with my voltages a bit... With Performance Level @ 8 (PIns Enabled) or @ 7 (PIns Disabled) I need 1.71v (Bios) to not get the DetDram error on random boots. I need less than 1.61v to actually run it Prime/Orthos/OCCT/Folding stable but 1.71v (Bios) to stop the error. Quirky board.
I'm going to test some Micron D9 Fatbody in it soon, some no name eBay stuff that is good for 1200MHz 5-5-5-12 with 2.4v (Fatbody FTW)!

I have a bios template that's 8 hours OCCT stable and 2 hours stable in MemTest 2.01. My only question is, is there anything I can do to this to make the timings/performance better? Any suggestions on why the Row Refresh Cycle Time hangs with anything lower then 45 and why I can't set the Transaction Booster to Manual? Other then that it's rock solid on my Maximus/Rampage!!![]()
I got G.SKILL F2-8000CL5D-4GBPQ and E8400 BTW..

I couldn't agree with you more on this. I also need to set the NB volt at 1.65v in bios to eliminate det ram hang for higher FSB OC with a Q6600 G0. See my sig for OC details. The performance level found in RF bios does affect the NB volt that you need to set to get your OC stable and to eliminate det ram hang. Performance level 8 with pull-ins enabled or level 7 disabled seems to be the sweet spot for higher fsb OC at >450+
As for AI Clock Twister, I need to tuned it down to moderate from stronger when I OC the fsb from 465 to 470. After you've reached FSB450, every 5 fsb interval advancement seems to be the next level barrier.
