+1 on that recommendation...hence I still got my $4 P/S2 keyboard & $6 P/S2 mouse. Tried the USB KB but never got into it, wife has it now.

since on the subject of SATA, is there a particular SATA connection for SATA DVD-drive or can I just pick any to maintain a nice cable management?

    advance thanks

if you are not doing Raid on the Intel chipset, you can use almost any port...but...if you are doing raid, use ports 5 or 6 for the DVD sata drive

So I went ahead and cleared the bios out with the battery out for a half hour, come back fire it up and uguru is still not displaying the proper vcore options. So I uninstall uguru, download 3.107 from Ace's link on the previous page and install it. But when i go to About for uguru it says its still 3.103?! The folder and installer both clearly stated it was 3.107, did i screw up the uninstall or something? Should i try to reflash the official 16 bios again to get the vcore options to show up properly?

I've heard there's a beta 17 somewhere, maybe I should play with that for a while?

    New day...same problem.

Based on the post code 25, is it a safe assumption that it's more likely the mobo and not the CPU? Since I don't have another CPU to test, I can't truly rule that out. Both are under warranty, but I have to pick something to start with and my guess is, it seems more likely that it's the mobo. I've applied for the cross shipping option with Abit, so it's going to cost me about $50 in total to get this replaced. I hope I'm not wasting mine or Abit's time and money.

I wish I knew what happened to cause this problem. I'd like to make sure it doesn't happen again.

    Something wrong with this pic?

I've been working on setting up a Q6600 with 4x1gb memory on the Abit board and just noticed something during an OCCT run ...

I got so use to the 45nm CPUs reporting I was surprised to see the temps flip on the Q6600 with the mobos monitoring temps lower than Coretemp. Unless someone tells me different, I'm inclined to believe the mobo monitoring.

How's the PWM temp when using a C2Q running at stock?

A friend of mine needs to build a workstation-class system (wants a quad & 8GB RAM, or a server board with 12GB...but due to budget will probably go for the former option), and while I love this board with my Duo, I'd hate to recommend it for him if he needs to do the bolt mod.

    Thanks!

where is this "About"...i looked for it in my Uguru installation and i couldn't find it.

are you downloading it to a folder and then running installation from that folder?...also, don't forget to reboot after you do the uninstall...when you come back to windows desktop, go to the program folder and delete the folder before beginning the new installation just in case Uguru leaves something behind from the older version.

don't forget Uguru is NOT going to give you spot Vcore settings...there is going to be an error difference....i.e., i have about 0.07v difference between what is displayed as 'set' in "OC Guru" and what is actual...i doubt abit will ever get it to be totally accurate or within 0.01v difference.

you do know that there is an "OS" or "BIOS" option setting for the USB mouse and keyboard...i would put those two into the "BIOS" mode 24/7
Yeah, thanks Ace-a-Rue. I know this setting well, because I run this system on a Mac Mini with a KVM that usually only works with the BIOS setting in the USB option. What was weird was that I was trying a different bios (12) from 14&16 which were giving me problems, but then 12 ran into a whole slew of stuff.

What was happening was that there was no real option to enable in the bios. Settings were missing, and the only selection to make was "disabled" which was selected by default and you cannot change at all.

I finally was only able to flash the bios after hooking a ps/2 keyboard up, and hooking up only a usb flash drive which the bios found by default with no sata drives hooked up.

The Nvidia drivers were borked, and only 1 of my 3 monitor worked. In the device manager, no display adapters were showing, and I could not install the 8800 Ultra (running 2 monitors), and the 8600 GT (running 1 monitor). It said in the device properties that "access was denied" and I could not install the drivers even through enabling the administrator account. It finally worked in safe mode under the admin account, and now everything is peachy.

Hi guys. Im trying to reach 3.6ghz on my q6600 but prime not stable and occt not stable as well. Super pi crashing too. At 3.4 works fine.
Try to push vcore to 1.47 at bios but show less vcore at Vista and less vcore on load testing.
Vdimm set to 2.0v. All other voltages are stock. Memo running 5-5-5-18-2t
So, should i change any chipset voltage or cpu VTT voltage?
And the new bios v16 will help ?
Also, i try to find how to mount a cooler blowing the pwms, how you guys do it?
    tks in advance.

On my bench I use a Swiftech H2O-220 Compact Water Kit, but once I get it into a case it'll be something a little more robust. Just easier to pop the Swiftech kit off and on. Since there is only the rad and the block I don't have to wrestle with a bunch of tubing. Pump is on the block and reservoir is in the rad. $140 at the Egg (when its in stock) and it beats the parade of air coolers that have been across my bench recently.

"About" is in the right click menu from your sys tray icon.

Also, i definitely did run it from the folder and i rebooted after the uninstall. The real issue i've got is that on the adjustment box for vcore I've got options from 0.000 to .6000 and that's it. Sad, uguru was real handy for overclocking before.

Is there a preferred bios for Quads?

Seems pretty ho hum on the memory side too. Going to see if I have better luck with an old Asus P5B for 4x1gb memory set-up. Seems like voltage had to be goosed up a little across the board to get things stable after I went from 2x1gb to 4x1gb.

    hi again guys
Just sharing my ugly experience, but i think good results.
I was worried about my pwm temp, and i saw ace post about cooling better the pwms with the 40mm fan. Since i had a spare 80mm fan and im lazy to do the job and go buy an 40mm one i start to fit an 80mm fan blowing near the PWM.
Here is the pictures how i done. Is pretty ugly(i can live with), not organized and clean as ace post, but is an alternative:
In the end PWMS temp idle : from 53-55C to 39C
    full: from 61-65 to 44-48C

I am waiting on my board to come in, but I was wondering about aftermarket cooling for the board.

I was looking at the following

    NB
    Thermalright High Riser HR-05
    http://www.petrastechshop.com/thhrhrichco.html

    SB
    Enzotech SLF-1
    http://www.petrastechshop.com/enslonfocoso.html

and mosfets? is there a nice solution for them?
    like this?

Or would this be a waste for overclocking and just do the bolt mod?
    Abit IP35 Pro
    Intel Q6700
    Crucial Ballistics Tracers 4x1gb 1066 DDR2
    ATI X1800XT
    Seagate 250gb / 750gb SATA
    OCZ 600w
Swiftech Storm, GPU, Pump, Res, BI GT240 Stealth

No, I can't get past the post code 25 now, so I just have a blank screem looking back at me. I can't do anything at all with it.
