    That's what I thought!

nope i only used one time per one block without D-Tek cause will changed the nozzle
Yes, that's what I meant. I was just very suprised after seeing Niksub1's work with 5 mounts, it really makes a huge difference using multiple mounts. This shows his results compared over 5 different mounts. As you can see if you compared the blocks with just one mount, you could have a very different relative ranking (note crossing lines) depending which mount was used.

Any one block can have up to 2 even 3 degrees difference just by simply taking the block back off and remounting. So that's 2-3 degree error in mounting possible only mounting one time. You cut that mounting error down every time you mount again and average results. As Niksub1 noted earlier, this mounting variable appears to be even more important with the bowed blocks and stepped bases, and this is because you are able to make the best contact pressure point roll around depending on how the thumbscrews are tightened. If it happens to fall perfectly above the hottest part of the CPU die, you'll have the best result, and it's very easy to get different results with a bowed block and the varience is higher.

I'm thinking you could probably cut that down to 3 mounts and have good enough results (accurate to 1 degree), but even that is 3X the work...

What you'll see most people do however is just test one block on one mount, so it's not out of the normal way of doing things, there is no standard after all. Most users understand this and accept it with the thought that they will watch for several reviews producing the same results. If you had 5 reviews out there with the same or similar result, then you also have something statistically significant, so it's always great information to share!

To me this says that EVERYONE should chip in and produce one test and we have a difinitive answer!!..

    Great work!!

Agreed... all the manufacturers should send us all a sample so we can do some testing!

    great review! thnx much zolkorn

i wouldve liked to see the pump feeding the blocks directly to see the difference pressure makes, if any.....

But then there is the issue of the heat dump, of the pump playing against the temps of the block?

I recall from someone saying that 'max and min' aren't the best measures of cooling performance. Rather, when you average things out that's when things get interested. Could you re-analyze your data by average load / idle results?

I believe SKYMTL said it. And I think it has grains of truth.
