Ok I've done some more investigating and have found that this

Problem happenes on cold boot, but if I reset the PC then I have PCI-E x16 2.0 transfer rate working and everything else is hunkydory.
Now, does anyone else on here have a G92 GTS with a P5E3?
Do you have the Cold Boot X4 2.0 or X16 1.0 PCI-E rate problems?

Try setting the PCIe frequency up a shade, to something like 105 or 110 MHz. I don't know how common it is with this board, but I know of a few other boards that sometimes have problems with the PCIe x16 slots only running at x4, in which case bumping the PCIe frequency up a notch will often fix the problem.

i can give you my personal experience with the 4x instead of 16x problem, normaly it happens when i change some values in the NB e SB voltages.

after several tests those two settings where the only thing causing the change of the PCIe

I tried raising the NB Voltage to 1.35V = No difference.
Raising the PCIE Frequency by 1Mhz Incriments...still no difference.
Point of View Support got back today and advised I RMA'd the board, am now waiting for an RMA number which I should get tomorrow.
They have confirmed that their 8800GTS G92 card is compatible with the P5E3 as they have one in their TD (test department) and have never seen the issue I have been having.
An RMA'd card should fix the issue. (Well that is what their support said).

Hi guys, just wondered before I buy, will the Thermalright heatsink\coolers work OK on this board without having to remove backplates \ other bits etc. ?
Particularly interested in the Thermalright Ultima 90 which has it's own backplate that needs to be put on the Board.

Yes, no problems with the Ultima-90 or the Ultra-120. Your case must have adequate depth (fits the Antec P182).

BTW, the Ultra-120 Extreme is the best air cooler currently available (I use it). Nearly all reviews say nothing cools better (requires a fan):

I think that the motherboard temp sensor (as opposed to Northbridge or Southbridge) is located on the MOFSETS. Aside from the NB and SB, the 'fets are pretty much the only things you have to worry about temp-wise.

I need some clarification. My CPU temp reading is 10-15C lower than Core temp in idle and load. Core temp looks more reliable so does that mean my P5E's CPU temp sensor is broken? I really need this confirmation and considering RMA.

MB is fine, the MB read-out is to low since a couple op Bios versions back.

So everything is perfect, just Asus to blame.

Thanks for the clarification. My previous MSI P35 doesn't differ much so I'm a bit worried. I've read somewhere that P5E overvolts Vdimm around 0.05V. I don't have time to read the whole thread so I hope someone can modify the first post for more infos on these boards.

Hey guys, i got my new rig up and running with asus p5e and bios 601 with a q6600, I have curcial ballistix 6400 (4 x 1 gig sticks) running with 4-4-4-12 timings, but i heard you can get these running at 8500 speeds, how would i go about that without overclocking the cpu, and would i notice any increase in pefromance?

Can you post readying spots for the DDR3 volts? if this mobo is overvolting that much is really dangerous.

by 0.06 V and not by 0.3 or 0.4. In my opinion that would be way too much.
I'm running 2 gig ddr 1066mhz at 2.04 in bios, which would be about 2.1 .
I would've burned my ram long time ago if the mobo overvolts the ram by
0.3 - 0.4 v.

No. You will need to manually set the dram voltage to 1.9v (the memory is rated for 2.0v to 2.1v, but on the P5E, 1.9v to 2.0 at 800 Mhz. - default speed - is just fine and dandy since the board will over-volt a tad by at least .05v).

Would the Vdroop mod cause any harm to mobo or CPU? According the Intel and several tech sites, Vdroop is normal and Load Line Calibration should be disable. After doing the mod, Instead of Vdroop, my load Vcore, increased a little bit compared to idle.

What VTT you guys run for 24/7 setup because Anandtech fried thier QX9650with VTT at 1.51V.

I've measured mine with a DMM at several voltage settings and always by +0.05v.

Right now I'm trying to resolve a minor problem: Every so often after I reboot from windows, the P5E will not post (no beep & black screen) and I need to hit the reset button. I'm trying a bit more dram voltage and adding some VTT. See more sig for details Any suggestions?

There is no reason to do the pencil mod unless you need it. Most overclocks are fine with Loadline Calibration On. Any mod that adds conductive material to the MB carries some risk. How much risk I don't know. Anyone?

It's doesn't up the vcore. So I am running it Like this for now but the chipset about 35c so that's så bad..

So far, I've tried a vcore of 1.35v and a Northbridge voltage of 1.45v
I'm now trying a VTT of 1.22. Since the problem is intermittment, I'll have to wait and see if it helps.

I've read about changing the FSB Strap from 400 to 333. I think I even read something about not plugging the CPU fan into the MB header.

I'm hoping someone who had my exact symptoms will have an answer; otherwise I'll have to resolve it through trial and error over time.

Your friend is correct, Intel chipsets are Crossfire only.
