Sorry m8 I mean't where do you get this info from is it a third party software programme used to read your BIOS settings?

Yes. VTT can still be read at the diode. One thing probably worth mentioning is the ground. For consistent readings use the same source for ground from one session to the next.

CPU VTT is the last pic - for some reason it wasn't showing up, but it's fixed now

It is close to the CPU socket, you can see the socket lever in the pic.

Thanks guys, I will try these 2 points next time I play with the X48 & see which one is closest to the mark / GTL reference charts.

When measuring the voltage of a well designed circuit there are multiple points that can be used. The exception to this would be a circuit with the inclusion of an inductor. In that case, the proper voltage value would be after the inductor. Although from a technical point of view one always tries to measure the voltage at the component the circuit supports. The reason I indicated VTT where I did was twofold. It's an easier spot to access for someone not familiar with probing circuitry and also depending on the CPU cooling used the area around the processor can be next to impossible to access.

    Ok now I'm getting somewhere.

My board does run close to whats set in BIOS if not slightly over.

    Using Clunk/Jimmy's measure points:

    vCore set: 1.5v / shown in BIOS: 1.53v / DMM 1.56v
    vDimm set: 2.19v / shown in BIOS: 2.19v / DMM: 2.20v
    NB Core set: 1.63v / shown in BIOS: 1.66v / DMM: 1.63v
    SB Core set: 1.51v / DMM: 1.51
    VTT set: 1.453v / shown in BIOS: 1.45v / DMM: 1.46v

GTL's manually set to 120 in BIOS

    GTL 1/2 DMM 0.98v
    GTL 0/3 DMM 0.99v
    NB GTL DMM 1.02v

Praz I think you have the VTT & PLL indicated measure points round the wrong way on the "SK12" chip.

I don't get any VTT voltage drop if anything a slight over volt so the Clunk/Jimmy charts are out a bit IMO & should be checked again on an X48 with BIOS 0320.

It's possible. I can double check them. Graphics isn't one of my strong points by a long shot.

Your readings compared to what Clunk posted is most likely completely normal. Got to remember that it will be just a matter of chance that two boards are going to read the same. What's considered in the industry as high precision is still a 1% variance when talking about components such as resistors. The voltages and charts any of us post is best considered as nominal values instead of absolute.

Actually I just had a look at my P35 board & although the chip is in the same place the D6 side of it is switched out on the X48 so your P35 edge of stability pic is correct its just switched out on the X48.

I accept the variance between boards but I would not expect 1.63v vtt set to drop to 1.55 to be high precision & it sure isn't 1%. As the GTL charts voltages are derived from the vtt voltage it would be nice to have it double checked with the new BIOS.

    I have Reaper X 6400 & 8000's & they both run fine on my x48.

You could try a different stick of memory to make sure it boots/posts etc then try again with the Reaper X but remember to slacken them off 5.5.5.18.5.54 rest on auto should make 1000mhz easy with 2.0v?

1.603 set and actual being 1.55 is more likely a divider issue. If so it should be the same on all boards. Can you check your board at that setting?

With BIOS 0320 the max vtt I can set in BIOS is 1.61v / Bios shows 1.61v & both Clunk & your measure points show 1.61v with the DMM.

Sure seems like the 03/20 BIOS is setting a different divider compared to the table.

I think this may be down to the type of CPU - do you have a 45nm CPU you can try and see if your BIOS values match the tables?

Or if anyone else could verify this for me, that would be great

In other words, if you have any 45nm CPU, what VTT voltage settings do you have a choice of?

    Thanks.

Yes good point & no I haven't had a 45nm CPU in the x48 but I would have presumed the x48 limited vtt to 1.45v with a 45nm CPU as per Intel's maximum spec just like they did with the P35 & X38.
