So I just got my new retail QX9650 for $700 the other day from a guy at the AnandTech trading forums in hopes of having an unlocked multiplier to suit my overclocking needs. As most of you know who also have a QX9650 and IP35 Pro, the newer BIOSes don't seem to include support for unlocked multiplier settings from Core 2 Extreme CPUs. This is a MAJOR setback for me, as the new BIOSes allow more compatibility and improvement with Wolfdale and Yorkfield processors. I've tried everything from official version 14 (9/6/2007) to the new beta 17.B02 (4/3/2008), and I have concluded that nothing above beta BIOS 16.B04 allows for an unlocked multiplier.
So here is my question: Is there any possible way to ENSURE that Abit BIOS engineers will address this major issue in the next beta revision or official BIOS release? Or is there a way around this situation that I seem to be missing? Thanks in advance.
