XSPC RS240 and RS360 Radiator Pressure Drop Test Results

A special thanks goes to Paul from XSPC for sending me these samples as well. I'm gearing up for thermal testing soon, so I'm trying to get these pressure drop tests done first.

For more details I have pages here:

excellent... xspc is making great stuff. Great testing too. It appears that this rad is less restrictive than swiftech and hwlabs counterparts. NOW YOU MUST MAKE VIDEO REVIEW FOR NOOBS TO LEARN. lol

Hehe...I'm not so sure you want to see my ugly mug...

When I follow up with the thermal testing of my own, I'll see what I can do. It might just be a slideshow, but a video might be fun..

Your testing is very good as it is, the pics are enough; why complicate the process more? theres nothing I couldn't understand with the charts and photos you supply. GJ as always.

Don't just make flow tests, can it cool something? But nice test none the less, there will most likely be more than enough temp test's, but these flow ones is abit rare, so

They didn't say you had to be in it other than for voice-over

Thanks for yet another PD test Martin! Keep up the great work.

How the heck do you get ahold of one of these? I may use one in an upcoming build.

    Thanks guys!

And sorry for not providing thermal results at the same time, I understand it's only part of the story. It's just the part I have done, and I will follow up with some thermal testing. Rather than trying to do comparisons, my efforts will be towards building an estimating tool to calculate water temperatures. This will all take alot more testing to gather enough data points and plot the curves and trends, but in the end I think it will be more useful than just some comparison against another radiator.

I did start building my radiator test stand yesterday, and even a little side project to measure static pressure of fans.

I got my sample straight from XSPC as a review sample.

Yep, as said by Martin, flow is only half of the game. It can flow great yet have some really crap ºC/W numbers or require the wrong fans (for the XS crowd anyway) to get the good ºC/W numbers. Looks good so far though.

"the products I have tested have all surprised me in the amount of attention XSPC gives towards bottom line performance at a great prices."

That took me back when i first read it as in the UK and Europe "bottom line performance" is a term used for the worst of the worst so you might want to change it incase people reading it do not realize that your referring to the charts and end up not reading the whole review as we tend to use the term "top of line performance" or " top end performance" for something that is good.

Thanks Martin for testing these rads. The RS360 is dirt cheap compared to the Swiftech and THermochill from where i can buy them.
    Swiftech MCR320 = 56 euro
    XSPC RS360 = 42 euro
    Thermochill PA120.3 = 93 euro
Now i know which rad i have to buy
    >i5-3570K
    >Asrock Z77E-ITX Wifi
    >Asus GTX 670 Mini
    >Cooltek Coolcube Black
    >CM Silent Pro M700
    >Crucial M4 128Gb Msata
    >Cooler Master Seidon 120M
Hell yes its a mini-ITX gaming rig!

The flow test done here is only half the story, wait for the thermal test to get a clear picture of how well it actually works.

Working on it, but I'm probably going to start with the PA120.3 first since I have all those beautiful C/W curves to compare results with that Bill Adams did. Built most of my radiator stand this evening, I think I'm going to wire in 8 air inlet sensors, two for each 120mm fan, then I won't have to mess around with install sensors on the radiator every time.

    In the end, I'm thinking

    Air in = 2each sensor x 120mm fan
    Air out = 1each sensor x 120mm fan
    Water in = 1each sensor
    Water out = 1each sensor

For a total for 14 sensors, I figured I would put the crystalfontz to work with it's 32 channels of available sensors. I don't have an environmental chamber, so I figured the more air in sensors the better.

On to wiringing lots o sensors...

If you ever get time after your tests are complete could you try running two radiators in parallel if you have any Y connectors to see what the flow and temp is like over a single rad ? And if possible sandwich the 3 fans between the two so one set of fans is being used between the two in a pull / push state.

    If that makes any sense.

Yeah, I understand what you're thinking, I'll check it out when I get everything caught up.

Heh, no problem Martin, take your time. Sounds like a plan.
I'd just hate to see someone see only the flow data, run out and buy it, then go "WTF, why are my temps high?".
