how dense are the fins for the 360 radiator ? which brand ? SFF21F maybe better if you need better temps (1~2 degs). SFF21E isn't as good as the P12.

what's the difference between the open or closed corners of a YATE LOON 120mm Case Fan - D12SL-12? and a YATE LOON 120mm Case Fan - D12SM-12 closed corner? as far as those corners are concern
trying to find a good quiet fan for my 4-fan door for CM830SE.

the difference is their corners are closed and opened meaning the corners are joined for the closed version preventing you from using fan clips on it example thermalright fan clips. you can saw it off of course.

rather get yate loons from petratech or did you not go thru vapor's fan review.

I didn't know Yate Loon until I read Vapor's review. another person posted in another forum about those closed corners, when I was researching about Tommy Hewitt's 8800 Thermalright HR-03 + and I had to research the difference.
rather go thru Petra since I already have an accnt there and they have speedy delivery.

i know jab-tech has it there...... but the review show there are fake OEM yate loons. they are made in china so go figure.. alot of other shops have them too but i can honestly tell you i have bought most of them from petratech and have no noise or problem with mine. hope for the best with yours.

Does anyone know if Svc.com gets their Yate Loon Fans directly from Yate Loon? Or are they imitations? I went ahead and ordered 4 YL D12SM-12 from Petra Tech but I'm just curious since I've bought YL fans from Svc.com before. I'd appreciate any comments. Thanks in advance!

good question....according to vapor PT is the only site who gets them directly. I bought 3 YL from jab-tech awhile back and they were crap compared to Petra's

I did a comparison of the YL model D12SM-12 pictures on Svc.com & of JabTech which showed both sites having the same serial number. I think it's a serial # that looks like 704 on the sticker of the fan. It's towards the bottom of the fan.

On the other hand Petra's Tech Shop YL model D12SM-12 picture shows a complete different serial number which is 607. I'm just glad I ordered my YL's from Petra's Tech Shop!

Its not the serial number. Petra has a few batches too. They had straight blades (606~) and curved blades (710~) too. Its the blade themselves / some have squarish motor hub stands. Some even have short wires but ordering from Petra's Tech Shop does save you the trouble of being unsure.

Noctua Straight Blade fan has a odd bearing sound as well as it doesn't push as much airflow but it still isn't as bad as what you may think. There are terrible fans out there and these aren't in that list but S12 1200rpm isn't the best fan either.

I'm considering the Scythe Ultra Kaze 3000rpm, it may be some more noisy than the San ace but also bit over 100cfm.

Anybody knows it?

For those of you who are tempted by the $20 Noctua NF-P12, you might want to take a look at this. Soundly beaten by a Scythe S-Flex SFF21F. And then there is this test at SPCR. It seems that SPCR would be the true target market for these fans, and yet it seems many folks there are not too impressed. Read the whole thread. I found it very interesting.

Although that does seem to contradict this overclock3d review. And then there is this xbitlabs review. I'm not sure what to make of that regarding the P12. He doesn't have a Scythe SFF21F but he does have an Ultra Kaze at 2000RPM, which does very well. He really likes the Silverstone FM122 and FM123 which didn't exactly get high marks from Vapor.

Hardwarecanuck has a review where the P12 seems to do very well, but it is deceptive because all the fans he is comparing it against are slower weaker fans. So it is a cheap victory. Seems like every review I read on that site is glowing. It also irks me that he still lists the price at $14. Good luck finding it at that price anywhere. He should edit that.

I am really looking forward to Vapor comparing this new NF-P12 against the Scythe SFF21F, Zalman ZM-F3, and of course the Sanyo. That should really put things in proper perspective, But until then I just want to urge caution regarding this fan. If you really want to spend $20 (or more) on a fan just get yourself a Sanyo Denki for a few dollars more. AFAIK, that fan has never been beaten in any comparison.

well for what they are selling the sanyo denki H1101 at i find the P12 cheaper. If you are not getting incurred the cost of a fan controller when the you calculate that total sure its cheaper obviously, but not many of us get fan controllers throw/given to us on just wishing. To each their own, SPCR was never good for fan reviews to me they changed their testing method 3 times.

Now this guy is testing the P12 & Scythe with mesh pointing it upwards.

Nah, Zalman is fine very quiet fan that moves a good bit of air...not worth the extra $ to get a better fan that won't add any benefit as an intake.

Glad you got to test them in the end, I am still running the ones I pointed out to you when you started the first round of tests (in case you dont remember, I got them as a test bed run up fans, as what I wanted were a six week wait) so that is 16+ months on, run at 10-11 volts 24/7, IMO the best £8 (for 2 with full rubber mount kits) I have ever spent, all of my panaflo's are still sitting in the box they came in.
