Don't think you are, is more BIOS/DFI than PSU, maybe you, not KTE, since I had run MSI/ASUS on the Scorpio PSU with same OC, had no instability problems as I having with DFI, now with Arkangel, I can boot 257HTTx11, but I can't say that the system is stable, benching fine, but not stable.
3DMark06 Bench, without AOD RED Turbo mode.

Tried 3.0/2.4GHz with 1.5/1.45V
Took that screenshot after half a minute and stopped prime cuz i had auto power off set to 80°C.
I have the monitoring software for the psu running on a laptop and noticed up to 375W DC system power consumption. Max used at 12V1 was ~11A at 12V2 ~12.2A. Should be save for those rails handling up to 18A.

Wow been awhile since I used L and I was like wth is this.
Bet u been saving that one.
So u say u are going to set up a list of what ram runs at 1066.
I just bought the patriot memory from da egg.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220299
And it would not post at 1066 when I installed it.
Hell it wouldnt even do it manually.

Cam, Cam, Cam, you've been reading that FUD for too long. That's not true, only for earlier batch Phenom B2s which were never released to public anyway
Run 2.1v, 2.2v, 2.3v, if you want without worry. Heck I benched 2.5v yesterday.![]()
Did you miss Sami saying he's running OCZ 2.3v kits daily many months back or dozens of us guys running 2.2-2.4v daily without issues? The issue is a dead and old one, even more non-existent than the yoctosecond TLB bug occurrence.![]()
Achim, this shows you have around 250W DC power draw from CPU alone![]()
(A1+A2)*12V I guess.![]()
Few results from my 2.8GHz benches, memory ran unganged.
CPU 2.8GHZ / NB 2.0GHZ / MEM 1066-5-5-5-16-18
CPU 2.8GHZ / NB 2.2GHZ / MEM 1066-5-5-5-16-18
CPU 2.8GHZ / NB 2.4GHZ / MEM 1066-5-5-5-16-18
Primed 1.30625/1.26875/2.0V for 2.8GHZ CPU/2.2GHZ NB/1066-5-5-5-16-18 MEM for +8hrs, ran a few apps afterwards and it seems stable.
Trying 1.2875/1.25/2.0 now. Had all the SB and NB chipset voltages at lowest first upped em all in the 1.2V region to be save.
More will follow.
@aGeom: :Yepp: might be worth trying another psu anyway, the DFI requires more power than other boards. Can't compete with your 3DMark06 result here with an HD2600XT.

Thanks for the test data Achim
I haven't tested much... only started it up now
Still booting 2.8G fine though at least - better than my 9500/9600 ever did without problems
Yep, your board is using 8-pin 12V connector (black), with that PSU, first 4-pin is 12V1 and the +4-pin is 12V2
The MB connector as well as most peripherals are 12V4/5V/3.3V.
12V3 is PCIe 6-pin.
2.8/2.2GHz will give the best power efficiency i expect. Priming that at 1.2875/1.25V. It failed at 1.3V on the first day I hadt this cpu but i had used 4-5-5-16-18 timings and lower chipset voltages that time.
With the BE9600 I searched for the lowest stable voltages before i benched it and I also did a few power consumption tests. I'll do the benches now once i found somewhat stable settings and rescedule the power efficiency testings to a date at whom i detected the lowest stable voltages. Voltage optimisation is still an very time consuming thing, specialy with nb voltages.
Great, thank you for the input. I only skimmed over an article about DMM mesuring on mobos once and still have todo more research on that area.
Always thought those two 4pin connectors are used for pci/usb stuff.![]()

oh brother i finally managed to get the cpu from the customs, luckily i called dhl and asked and they told me that's in lueneburg already so i calles the customs and they found itthats the good story
it was like in the good old days when there were no cpu's, computers, and of course no globalisation or planes or equal horrible things...
after they raped the nice processor box (will post a foto when i'm at home), they wondered what that thing they pulled out could be, after i told them that thas was a processor or equally called cpu or microprocessor () they tried to look up the right paragraph, no way... after a while, some of those guys recalled that it's got something to do with a computer and so they looked after the paragraph for EDV (german for IT) and finally found it...
ok, the charge was not that high, but it was hard enough to explain that i got it from some mate from a forum and that its not new or purchased somewhere and so i've got no receipt, so they asked me how much and i told them the truth for i was afraid they could easily make some more trouble...
but in a few minutes i will put it in place and ENJOY![]()

The bench was not for compete, it's just to see that is 3DMark06 bench stable @+2800 in Server 2008 Enterprise x64.
BTW I allready ask KTE if he know how to activate AOD RED Turbo mode from Sam's tool, he said yes with MSR registers, but he doesn't know witch ones, by any chance do you know witch ones to change? Thanks.

Are the CPUs dying or are the motherboards burning? I find it hard to believe the Phenom can get burnt up so fast unless something totally improper was going on. AMD's 65nm process tech is actually very good, only the complex CPU design holds them back compared to Intels@65nm (monolithic quad ftw/l!).
All will be apparent and answered in time just like anything else in life.
Also please don't come into this thread praising Intel and why its betterWe all have personal preferences but we get that quite sufficiently on every facet of the forum these days. Not that this is your intention at all but I just wish to bring it to your attention nothing more so please lets keep the DFI UT 790FX-M2R thread on topic and about AMD

really, that man at the customs behaved little more civilized than big foot in your description..
but that pic is taken at home![]()
but the cpu is flying. 1000 3d06 points more at 3,5ghz than before... didn't run super pi for the moment..
had to add little voltage to get 3,5ghz stable, got freezes at 1,4v... and unfortunately 3,6ghz won't boot into windows even at 1,55v.. i'll try other bios and lower multi/lower ram divisor/higher htt perhaps there's some little peculiarity somewhere here..
bit the cpu seems to be running really cool.. i got 39/44°C core temps and only 60°C cpu temp (the 4600+ was at 92°C at 3,5ghz)

Oli I had that CPU @3.5GHZ on stock voltage you don't need 1.40Vcore!

stock is 1,4v... you think it's the bios? perhaps i should go back to 01/31...
or perhaps relook the cooler...
which core temps did you have??
you experienced some preferences of the cpu? perhaps its the 4gb ram again that it needs a little more voltage...
edit: ok i flashed 03/12 and set ram timings to default except trfc and it seems to run better @ stock @ 3,5ghz.. will have to wait for prime..
