Chances are you won't find any - anywhere - until at least early next quarter, likely mid quarter. Your best bet now is to hunt down any Xeon E3110 (same chip, different name) while they are still available. It seems Intel has basically stopped shipping all the 45nm parts.

Why has Intel stopped producing 45nm parts? The E8400 is a great chip.

    Got an 8400 Yesterday.

I got an E8400 yesterday from Tigerdirect. I could not believe it. I guess nobody goes there because they think they won't have it and that's exactly why they still do.

That's a good catch on the ZEON. I could have grabbed that instead had I know. What's the difference between a Z and C2D?? Temp envelope?

Yups - it's real, mine has shipped and there are still some 8400s left... Get'm while you can!!

    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...?EdpNo=3636566

P.S. - No 85s... but is it really that big a difference? I understand the OC about the same.

Busted core temp sensors. Either they give static readings or a totally wrong ones. Oh well... I say, throw some water on that biotch and clock away. You'll know when it's too hot - you won't be able to get it stable.

Besides, temp readings are for the sqeemish ;-). If it ain't hot enough to melt the solder or the silicone, it's safe enough for me!!

Well I've found an 8400 and a 3110 for about the same price. Is there an advantage to going with one over the other?

I just talked to a person at Tiger Direct and they said that they are out of 8400s right now but they got a new shipment on the loading dock that will be logged in later today. Once logged in, you should be able to order again.

E3110 is rated to handle higher temperatures. Rated for server duty, mostly.

However, they still OC just as well as the E8400s.

It seems like they are all going to OEM's. You can buy E8400 and E8500's from Dell in systems easily. I just got a E8500 in a Solidworks Box for work the other day.

I feel like the 65nm may become their budget line in the meantime... or is there something 45nm-wise planned out...
I mean, the only cheaper 45nm I've heard of is the E8200...

So is the general consensus if you can get yours hands on an e8400 because the rest of the wolfdales and the yorkfields have been delayed until sometime in April or May correct, then get the e8400. To be truthful, I'm getting very tired of waiting anyway.
